$250 All You Can Eat Matsusaka Wagyu in Tokyo π | Is Rokkasen Worth It?
So N and I are in Japan for a honeymoon, and today we’re in Shinjjuku to try all you can eat Matsusaka beef, one of the highest grades of Wagyu at Rokasen. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but since it’s our honeymoon, we wanted to splurge a little and enjoy the best of the best. Was it worth it? Keep watching to find out. We seated this early. We initially had a reservation at 6:00 p.m. Um, I made the reservation on table check ahead of time and um, I got the Matsu Saka all you can eat which also includes the sukiyaki seafood and all you can drink. So, this is their um, sukiyaki menu here. They gave us a special sauce for the crab if we were to eat crab. The yakiniku sauce, the grill, and then these looking at the sign that’s telling you how to grill it adequately. They gave us eggs as well for the sukiyaki dipping. You order everything, food and drinks, right from the iPad. Almost everything on the menu is included since we got the top tier Matsusaka beef option. Food and drinks just came out. We’re here to have a good time. So excited. Matusaka beef tongue fillet steak. And this is already cooking. I’m excited. I know you can’t smell this from YouTube, but it smells good so far. This is my ulong cocktail. N’s having his sake first. Cheers. That’s really good. Mine’s watery. You can’t really taste any alcohol in mine, though, so it’s kind of dangerous. Those grill marks look incredible. Oh my gosh. So, N finished cooking first round of Matsusaka beef. I’m going to try this for the first time without any sauce. Here it is. It looks so good. M. It’s crazy. It melts in your mouth like right away. That’s crazy. I’ve never had beef like that before. I tried the Matasaka beef. Very fatty. Melts in your mouth. Very good taste. But then when you dip it in the sauce, it like elevates it. M has like a hint of sweetness and brings out the fattiness and this and the like the umami of the meat. So good m Okay, the sauce is so good. This is the best barbecue I’ve ever had. I’m going to try the sukiyaki now. Dip it in the egg. That sukiyaki is so freaking good. I You need to try that. It’s so good. Not only is it like it has hints of fat, but the meat flavor, excellent. So good. And then the egg really compliments it very well. You just finished making the beef tongue. I’m going to try it by itself first, per usual. Thank you. Thank you. M. Again, very flavorful, but Matusaka is my clear winner. Um, the beef tongue is also good. It’s just that like it’s lacking that fattiness that the Matsusaka beef has, but you can tell it’s a good quality tongue. The beefy not that fatty. Um, very light and the sweetness I said initially was, but the more that I eat it, I am changing my mind. It It is It helps cut that fattiness of the mas and makes it more enjoyable. I haven’t really enjoyed the meat. Now with this is amazing. It adds like a creaminess to it. So good. This is the fillet steak. M. This is a good steak. They added a little bit of pepper on it. [Music] The service here is excellent. Like the servers keep coming out to check up on us and the food comes out so fast. They’re so efficient. It’s amazing and the quality is topnotch. This is the plum wine. Highly recommend it. So good. Okay, so now I am trying the premium short rib. I usually like short rib whenever I’m at Korean barbecue. So this is the premium. [Music] More of a meaty flavor. Makes sense cuz it’s not as fatty as matsusaka. It’s good, but I do like matsaka more. Premier shortbread. Yeah, it’s not as fatty as a matasaka beef. It’s actually interesting because it’s like a thinly sliced um short rib, which is what I’m not used to. You know, normally when you get the sliced short rib, the cowi in Korean barbecue, it’s like with a bone with like really like thick meat. This one’s like more thinly sliced or something like that. Not my favorite. There’s like a nice meaty flavor to it, but the flavor doesn’t really pop out, unfortunately. This is the bone in short rib. Looks like galby. [Music] It’s good. [Music] Cut it. All right, I’m trying the bone in short rib. I cut off the bone. more of a meaty flavor to it. But going to be honest with you, I do prefer a Korean short rib better than this Japanese short rib. Something about it about Korean one. It’s more like juicy, tender. This one is more like tough, not as fatty. Not not preferred. I wouldn’t order this again. At the end of the meal, they give you mochi ice cream. So, we both got vanilla, and that’s the only flavor they have. It looks delicious. Strawberry mochi with ice cream. Ice cream is so sweet. This is a very good vanilla. I like it a lot. Very sweet, especially after such a greasy, salty dinner. Now, the main question is, is this place worth the price point? The total bill that I remember I paid at already in advance was 529 USD for to in total for the both of us. So, n is that worth it? I don’t know if it’s worth it cuz that’s pretty expensive. If you have the money, I think you should go for it. But given that it is the highest quality beef and I can taste that that which is why I’m really upset at myself for not being able to eat more. It was really good. Very, very good. Excellent service. So excellent. So yeah, if you have the Inu, check it out. All right. So, uh, at the beginning of the meal, one of the servers had asked us if they could take a picture of us, and we’re like, “Ooh, that’s fine.” But at the end of the meal, the server came over and handed us a card actually with our picture printed. Super cute. Uh we came around Christmas time, so they wrote Merry Christmas with the date that we ate here on the back of the card. Little cute pictures of me and Julie. And inside the envelope is the picture they took. Wow. very expensive meal, but again the service they went above and beyond. So, highly recommend. Please check out Roasan in Shinjuku area if you have the money. The food is great, the service is great, everything about this. The ambiance amazing. Highly recommend.
