Santo Domingo.- Dominican writer, activist, and law graduate Alberto Valdez Alberto has been named a Youth Peace Ambassador by the Goi Peace Foundation, an organization endorsed by the Government of Japan and affiliated with the UN-associated program May Peace Prevail On Earth International. Valdez earned the recognition for his leadership in promoting peace initiatives and coordinating a group of 22 young Dominican leaders whose messages were showcased at the Osaka Kansai 2025 World Expo, alongside participants from 60 countries. He becomes the first Dominican to officially represent the nation within this global peace movement.
During the event, Valdez—also known by his pen name Beto Valiente—shared his journey as a social, cultural, and environmental activist, highlighting his projects such as a free digital library for students unable to afford academic materials. The young author of The Wishing Star: The Legacy of Magic has earned several distinctions, including being a 2024 National Youth Award finalist and receiving the 2023 Social Impact Entrepreneur Award. He also holds over 40 national and international certifications, some endorsed by the United Nations.
Strengthened by this new achievement, Valdez now aims to join the Peace Journey Program 2026, an international training experience in Japan or Scotland designed for young global peace leaders.
