New TeamLab in Kyoto ! A magical day in Japan’s Biggest Digital Art Space

Hey everyone, how about a little visit with me
to the new TeamLab in Kyoto? It just opened,
and it’s the biggest TeamLab in all of Japan! We’ll spend the whole day there together,
and I’ll also show you a cute donut shop near the station. Since it’s going to be a long day,
I’m starting with a good breakfast. Even though I live in Japan,
I still need something sweet in the morning. Oh, and my toaster’s a bit special
it looks like anything but a toaster, right? It’s got great design,
but what I love most is how it toasts the bread crispy outside,
soft and fluffy inside. A slice of bread with butter
and a nice coffee, that’s my perfect start. Lately, I’ve been drinking coffee from Kotaro,
a great roaster from Sapporo. Natsu usually eats savory in the morning. I’m happy to explore this new TeamLab with her. I went to TeamLab Borderless in Tokyo back in 2019
and really loved the concept. Alright, time to pack my bag and head out. Usually, I like to bring a cute tote bag, but today I’ll go with this K&F Concept sling bag.
It’s practical and affordable, I’m bringing my camera (fuji xt5)
and my new Osmo Pocket with some accessories With this bag, I can keep my hands free.
I’ll tell you more about it next time. Alright, let’s go! This new TeamLab is about seven minutes south of Kyoto Station. It’s really easy to get there,
just walk straight toward the Kamogawa River. I had a ticket for 11:30,
but we arrived early and got in right away. And then the magic begins. Right from the start, you’re surrounded by rooms full of wall projections. It’s absolutely beautiful! Once you’re inside, you can stay as long as you want,
but if you leave, you can’t go back in. There’s no set route,
so you can wander and explore however you like. We were lucky, maybe because it just opened,
there weren’t too many people. We never had to wait in line The building has three floors,
and it feels even bigger than the one in Tokyo. Each space feels different, some are calm and meditative,
others are interactive, with projections or objects There’s really something for everyone here. This room also exists in Tokyo,
actually most of the installations there are here too but there are also some new ones added for Kyoto. This is one of my favorite rooms, I love the concept. In Tokyo you could only stay for a limited time,
and it seems to be the same here. But since there weren’t many people,
we could stay as long as we wanted! This room is perfect for taking photos! But after some quiet contemplation… time for action! There are also more tactile rooms,
I absolutely loved it! Like this room filled with hundreds of balloons
floating around with air blowers. It was really impressive,
we were almost buried under all the balloons, caught in a whirlwind and completely lost our sense of direction. With the darkness and the play of lights,
it truly felt magical. These were the rooms where I had the most fun,
especially the one covered in foam everywhere. But there are other fun areas too,
especially for kids or for grown-up kids like us. Come on, follow us! But what is this strange thing? Yes, there’s a whole floor more focused on kids,
with lots of fun activities to try. But it’s still beautiful to look at, even for adults. In this area, you can draw something, scan it,
and watch it come to life on the floor or on a giant wall. Natsu drew a panda jellyfish, isn’t it cute? And me, I went full Jojo’s mode with a seahorse. It’s so much fun to see them moving around afterward
and to watch everyone’s creations come to life. It’s honestly such a fun experience! As a bonus, at the exit you can print your creations
on tote bags, puzzles, and other goodies. Of course, it’s not free,
but I think it’s a really nice souvenir idea. We made a little badge for about 600 yen,
and it turned out so cute! Alright, let’s get back to the visit! Honestly, Natsu and I had such a great time. Even though I’d already been to the one in Tokyo,
I really enjoyed this visit mainly because this time I was with my wife, and it made me so happy to see her
having fun and smiling like that. We ended up staying for almost five hours. After finishing all three floors, we went for another round,
and it was a good idea, we had missed a few rooms! This time, we focused on our favorite ones,
like the foam room! I really recommend visiting,
we’ll definitely come back one day with Natsu. But after five hours without eating,
it’s time for a little treat! Since you can’t eat inside TeamLab, we went to a café. It’s called Natural Café. They have a nice selection
of donuts, a few sandwiches, and coffee from the great roaster
Overview Coffee. The café is spacious,
so you’ll always find a seat We got chocolate, custard cream, and plain donuts. The donuts are indulgent and delicious. It’s not the best coffee shop in town, but it’s a great place to relax
while waiting for your train. Unfortunately, they don’t sell coffee beans
from Overview here. I sometimes order them directly
from the roaster on Shikoku. I hope you enjoyed this little trip
We had such a great time. I’ll add some practical info in the description, so feel free to check it out. See you soon on the channel
for another walk! またね!

  1. ça a l'air chouette !
