Visiting Japan’s 4 Unmanned Vending Machine Diners in the Countryside

Today’s video is… Just relax and enjoy the video! A plane landing on Osaka Airport Frickin’ cool Here is a new hot-spot where you can get closest to landing airplanes to Osaka Airport Many young people come here to take the best shots Never get tired of wathing them August 15th, 2025 Myaku Myaku and Gundam!! By the way, this hot spot is “Toyonaka Tsubasa Park” Oh, the video’s topic has nothing to do with airplanes though For this video, we are supposed to visit multiple vending machine places within Kansai region by car The first vending machine place we will visit is located right near the Osaka Airport That’s why I started from the airplane scene, haha Welcome to “Vending Machine Cafe – Light Meals 24” It’s a completely unmanned cafe where you can even use wifi for working There are 11 vending machines in here Mostly drink vending machines But you find a “Nissin Cup Noodles” vending machine which is rare to see nowadays I like the packages being faded The coin rejected somehow C’mon, it happened again Some vending machines still reject the new 500 yen coin from 2021 even the new 1000 yen bill In that case, you have to change money using other vending machines not this one c’mon c’mon It works! I was about to die at the very start of the video Okay, let’s do it again The Cup Noodles all cost 200JPY/1.4USD Seafood because I always choose it GOAT Use the built-in hot water supply Not working I had to keep pushing the button Need another dish It’s a coffee vending machine but offers a variety of hot drink options Counts down I chose hot corn soup How about a drink? The vending machine sells snacks as a side hastle Too many choices to choose from Breakfast The Nissin Cup Noodles Seafood never disappoints you I bought the Nezuko’s orange drink The worst taste I’ve ever tried haha I like drinking vending machine corn soup very much But the cup is too hot Food & Snack But the items are all snacks The vending machine was originally selling food like bread? Lotte Koala’s March, one of the best selling snacks in Japan Looking for something unique here… There are more Ramen options… Bread I opted for the canned food It’s a canned Yakitori Looks like this canned item are actually eaten on the International Space Station They are grilled chicken skewers in a sweet soy sauce-based sauce Taste good but are not recommended at ambient temperature They even sell work gloves and cooling items for summer The filmed date is August 15th, still in the middle of Japanese summer “Chinese Restaurant Airport” 100JPY/0.7USD drinks vending machine Looks like the area around the airport is filled with vending machines Walked a minute from the vending machine cafe This is a Yuzu citrus soy sauce(Yuzupon) vending machine Yuzupon is usually used as a dipping sauce for Japanese hot pot dishes Oh, the same one! This one is placed outside Looks like it’s working perfectly Vending machines in the wall Leaving the Osaka Airport area and heading for the next vending machine place The next one is located in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture Kobe is a harbor city like Yokohama, Kanagawa Driving downtown through to the industrial area Drove about 30 mins from Osaka Airport Got in the very industrial neighborhood… Oh looks like here Welcome to “Ishida Keiran” It’s a small shop which runs these vending machines as a side hastle I came here mainly for this retro Udon Soba Vending Machine I’ve tried the exact same vending machine in other places many times but each one makes a different taste This one costs 300JPY/2.1USD Choose either Tempura Udon or Soba You can hear the sounds of retro vending machines making noodles Just surprised it’s still working properly (The vending machine was made in 1970) It’s done I’m always on guard when taking out the noodles of these retro vending machines as it’s too hot and… Not sanitary By the way, I chose Soba noodles There is a dining table Take chopsticks and seasonings Adding seasonings is a must for me Shichimi powder (Japanese seven-flavor spice blend) It makes the noodles richer What is on top of the noodles is Kakiage, a type of Tempura where a mixture of chopped vegetables and seafood pieces are combined and fried The Soba(buckwheat) noodles are said to be healthier than Udon like the differences between plain or whole wheat bread Yes, it’s very delicious The Tempura that has absorbed the sauce is also delicious Of course, drinking it up👍 Thank you vending machine When the shop is open, you can add toppings on the noodles You can add a raw egg that makes the noodles even more delicious There is a wide variety of alcohols like an unmanned bar There are some sus drinks sold… Oh even here Looks like he needs help How about a chicken jinjer soup? Here is a toilet Smoke cigaretts here Seems like a oasis in this industrial neiborhood If you happen to come across an unfamiliar vending machine and a hot bowl of udon or soba comes out, it will be a wonderful memory oh no It started heavily raining right after I left the vending machine corner If it had been raining this hard while I was filming the vending machines… Thanks God October 26th After a long, long summer, it’s finally got comfortable I’m back on vending machine hopping The next one is located on the northern area of Hyogo Prefecture Driving 150 km/93.2 mi from central Kobe, Hyogo It’s a bit long drive so I took some breaks on the highway Even the rest area is in love with vending machines Seems each one has its own uniqueness and I never get bored Buying coffee You can change sugar and milk amount and the strongness of the coffee here on the buttons To increase the amount of coffee, pay an additional 50JPY/0.35USD You can watch the inside factory The Japanese rest area lets us enjoy a road trip more Enjoy mini crane games That was almost! c’mon c’mon did you see that Yey, I’m the luckiest man today Now driving on the National Route 9 The road has been famous for having a lot of roadside restaurants However, the construction of the expressway forced many stores to close Compared to other conventional roads, there are still a relatively large number of drive-ins Looks like we arrived at the vending machine spot You will easily miss this place as it’s low-profile Welcome to “Coin Snack Fuji” 24-hour open Looks like local farmers come here for lunch The Udon Soba Vending Machine is also operating here The price is 350JPY/2.45USD here Only Udon is sold The Udon vending machine was installed in 1976 when Coin Snack Fuji opened Due to a machine malfunction in 2020, the operation was said to be permanently shut down, but there were many calls from all over the country for it to be revived, and 760,000 yen was raised Thanksfully, the machine survived! The story makes you realize how miraculous it is that Udon vending machines are still in operation in Japan what? There are no toppings, only noodles It’s supposed to be Kitsune Udon… “The toppings are placed under the noodles” Okay, makes sense There are three tables with chairs similar to those used in Japanese school offices Feeling nostalgic Let’s start eating Yes, Shichimi But this looks like “Shichimi Udon”… No worries, there is really a Kitsune under the noodles Kitsune is a sweet, and savory seasoned piece of deep-fried tofu The difference in the taste of udon soup is that it is thicker in eastern Japan and sweeter in western Japan This is reflected in the udon noodles in the vending machines, and the two udon noodles I ate in this video had a sweet shichimigeek… This Udon noodles come with shredded kelp which makes it somewhat unique There is a Kamaboko fish cake at the bottom of the bowl Looks like there are no garbage cans in here Here, follow the persons who were here first The Nissin Cup Noodles vending machine also here There are no alcohol vending machines, but there is a cigarette vending machine Some vending machines are out of order Out of order snack vending machine Instead, you pick what you want from the basket To pay, you put in coins in this bottle They trust you The mouth of the bottle is very small for coin entry It finally got in All snacks are 100JPY/0.7USD Uguisu Ball It’s the Hyogo Prefecture’s best selling snack since 1930 My grandparents live in Hyogo, so I often ate this snack when I was a kid Fried sweets made with glutinous rice Having a nostalgic taste to me There is a restroom outside, which is very clean The vending machine corner is located in the very countryside of Hyogo The atmosphere here is so soothing Road sign you only see in the countryside… Before heading to the next vending machine spot, let me visit the local festival held today in Muraoka Town where Coin Snack Fuji is located It’s like a hidden small town in the countryside but people are lively here The main street of the town is filled with food stands and local people interacting each other In Japan, you don’t usually see many food stalls on the streets, but festivals are an exception Oh the shape is… looks like “something” Something Why not I couldn’t help but buy this delicious-looking one💩 Oh I mean “this waffle”, not 💩 It’s like a harvest festival, so many locals were holding vegetables Visiting an unfamiliar city suddenly and learning about life there is a new stimulus to myself Driving up on Route 9 to the northern Kyoto… On the way, I encountered a lot of ruins of drive-ins The population decline in these areas seems to be significant Looks like this place used to a cigarette shop It’s like an abandoned place but vending machines are still operating here Is it just me but I feel so sad when seeing these dying places… I wanted to buy a cup of coffee from this “coffee vending machine” One of the vending machines that humans couldn’t save A beautiful array of Coca-Cola vending machines From Coin Snack Fuji to the next vending machine place, we drive 98 km/60.8 mi mostly on Route 9 while listening to the Kawaii radio The next one is “Drive-in Daruma” It’s the one I visited by train and on foot 2 years ago in travelgeek (Anybody remember?) I’ll be back again, but this time by car Arrived Looks like it’s the only retro vending machine restaurant in Kyoto Prefecture Welcome to “Drive-in Daruma” (GT-R!!?) They say “drive-in” but you have to get inside the restaurant (unlike drive-ins in the USA) This is the most popular vending machine spot visited in the video Retro hamburger vending machine, bottle vending machine, and 3 noodle vending machines are featured here Not only the retro vending machines, but retro arcade games let us feel nostalgic It’s like traveling back to 80s – 90s of Japan Playing the original of the world’s most famous game SUPER MARIO Playing “World 1-1” “World 1-2” Still an easy game AH AH If you die three times, it’s game-over “World 1-3” GAME OVER My despairing face First thing first, let’s grab a cold drink Yes, Drive-in Daruma offers HI-C orange juice 180JPY/1.26USD You rarely see the brand lately, HI-C Not 100 percent juice but the best Unforgettable taste Next, eat a hamburger Choose from Hot-dog, Roasted Ham, Lettuce hamburger All are 300JPY/2.1USD Comes in the plain package The built-in oven is now out of order so we use the microwave to heat it up Don’t imagine a hamburger like McDonald’s This is just a vending machine burger But that simplicity is a good thing The noodle vending machines are now being restocked In fact, the noodles and ingredients are already prepared The machine simply pours hot water into the prepared bowls But the process of hot water pouring is eye-opening enough By the way I bougt a bowl of Ramen this time, which is 300JPY/2.1USD Simple soy sauce ramen For ramen, I don’t add Shichimi For ramen, I need black pepper Bean sprouts Char siu pork There are many types of noodles in this world but RAMEN is the best Oh no, they are gone Thank you vending machine Is there a game console that you have fond memories of? I was so absorbed in one game that I lost track of time Can’t cross that blue line I’ll make it on this one noooo I don’t want to give it up what’s wrong with me Thank you for watching the video, as always Let’s do Rock, Scissors, Paper 1 2 3 Rock See you in the next travel!

Today, we are visiting to multiple vending machine spots located in Hyogo and Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Just relax and enjoy the unlimited vending machine journey.

  1. I love those vending machine videos, especially when there are retro vending machines. We very much look forward to visit the big one in Sagahimara next March.

  3. Fun!! Loved the old vending machines too. I'm not sure about where you can still see the oldies here in the USA but some older historical places have them and keep them up. I think Japan has real neat ones though. Thank you for not only showing us your vending stops but also your beautiful countryside. Wow it is gorgeous there!🇯🇵

  4. It's been many years since I've pulled from a bottle vending machine. Those Udon Soba machines are as old as I am, depending on the machine. That one with the nixie tubes for the timer was pretty awesome! Good to see classic uprights running classic video games (in USA, Super Mario in arcade upright form was almost always the PlayChoice 10 version.)

  5. Paper covers rock. Those old vending machines are so interesting. Glad people try to keep them going.

  6. Awesome really enjoy your video's especially these random Vending Machines and locations the VM's are located. Thanks again friend for taking us somewhere unique today.

  7. @0:52 JAL Airbua A350-900 (Domestic Configuration) Likely arriving from Tokyo. JAL exclusively uses the A350 900's for domestic Japanease operations, while using their A350 1000 for their Long Haul, Flagship product! Gorgeous and incredibly nice airplanes!

Followed by an ANA 787 8, also exclusive to Domestic Japan operations.

Then followed by an A.N.A 777 200, notorious for having their original cabin design, wih no upgrades, they have no Seatback TV screen, and still have their original blue seats, most of these airplanes are ovwr 15 years old, the I flew was 24!

This is followed the next day by a JAL 737, and a JAL 767-300D at 1:44, Japan is one of the last countries on earth to use the Passenger varient of the Boeing 767, in regular commercial operations, the rest of the world has phased them out, or converted them to cargo aircraft! Because of this, this spot is incredibly famous world wide, for these aircraft!

  8. We only have drinks vending machines here, mostly in airports. I can't remember seeing any anywhere else. Funny, these games, we don't have anything like that here either.

  10. I was so engrossed in this video, the 40 minute run time passed like 10. Rainy day car trips are always my favorite! There's something so cozy about that weather.

  12. 12:53 “Not sanitary”
I had the exact same thought. I wonder if the backside of that “door” (which kind of touches the food) has ever been cleaned.

18:53 I am convinced that every single crane machine game in the world is rigged but now we know the secret: you don’ use the crane to grab with the claws—that’s what “they” want you to do—you use it to knock one of the prizes into the chute. Brilliant!

28:26 What is it exactly with “poo snacks” in East Asia? (Korea has poo-shaped bread [똥빵] also.)

I know vending machines are a “thing” in Japan. I would probably never get anything other than soda or a snack from one—I might “risk” coffee but probably not—so I appreciate the tour of these places that I would likely never visit. Another calming, relaxing video, with friendly, fun commentary, as always!

  13. Hello Sir ! Your video always make me smile Sir ! Thank you so much Sir ! Sir 🤭😅

  14. Very good, thanks. In US, drive in usually is for outdoor movie, we still have them. Drive through "thru" is for food, or liquor, and other things while staying in your car. They also have places where you park your car and order and the food is brought to you, sometimes by a car hop on roller skates.

  16. The vending machines, the rainy drive, the arcade games… it's all so familiar and nostalgic. (29:02) In small towns, you can really feel the effort people put into entertaining everyone, and it's always so highly appreciated and effective! 🤠
