Disney+ Japan is partnering with CJ ENM to bring South Korean content to the country for the first time ever.
Disney+ and CJ ENM

The multi-year partnership positions Disney+ as a key SVOD partner for South Korean streaming service, Tving, in the Japanese market. According to Variety, up to 60 of the Korean streamer’s top-performing originals and CJ ENM drama series are set to launch on the platform.
Content will begin on November 5 and feature fan-favorite titles including “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” and “Reply 1988.”
On November 6, “Dear X,” starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae and Kim Do-hoon, will stream exclusively on Disney+ Japan with its Korean debut.
As we celebrate five years of Disney+ in Japan, we remain committed to expanding our content offerings to reflect the diverse preferences of audiences. This collaboration with CJ ENM and Tving is a significant step forward in that journey.
-Tamotsu Hiiro, managing director of The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd.
And, Julie Choi, CEO of Tving, said of the partnership:
Our partnership with Disney, which has a strong presence and deep history in Japan, is an opportunity to most effectively present Tving content to local viewers. Through this partnership with Disney, we aim to grow beyond Korea’s No. 1 OTT [streamer] into a truly global K-OTT platform.
Other Disney+ original Korean content includes “Moving,” “The Worst of Evil” and “Tempest,” and Japanese originals include “Gannibal” and “Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation.”
