[京都観光] シニア旅行/清水寺/人力車/寧々の道/八坂神社/どんぐり共和国/

Thank you for watching. This is “Tabimero.” It’s been quite a while since my last video, but since I stopped off in Osaka and Kyoto on my way back from Ishigaki Island, I’d like to share a “Petite Kyoto” episode with you. It’s taken a little too long, though. Sorry. A lot has happened. Also, I recently visited Okinawa’s main island, so I’ll give a brief introduction at the end of this video. So, let’s begin our “Petite Kyoto” episode. On this trip, I decided to splurge and visit Osaka and Kyoto on my way back from Ishigaki Island. Tired from all the traveling, I decided to ride a rickshaw for the first time in Kyoto. I’d always wanted to ride one, but I’d always felt embarrassed about it back home. I was traveling, I decided to give it a try. Apparently, the person who pulls the rickshaw is called a “rickshaw driver.” He also served as a tour guide, explaining the history and cityscape of the area. Our guide this time was a 20-year-old student. She was slim, so I felt a little bad about having her ride us around. But his refreshing smile and way of speaking completely soothed me. Yeah. I kind of felt sorry for him. But I also got to learn about the legends from history, and it was really fun. Yeah. I didn’t study history much in school. It was always one of my worst subjects. I’m the same. Yasaka Shrine is an old shrine built about 1,400 years ago. It used to be called “Gionsha” and was apparently a place to pray for the prevention of disease. In 869, when an infectious disease known as the plague spread, an event was held to carry a mikoshi (portable shrine). This is the origin of the Gion Festival. There’s a bird on top. “Really” That’s a crane. The person who made it was a wealthy man named Tsuruyoshi Okura. That Okura is the Okura of the Hotel Okura. Oh! It wasn’t actually built by him, but apparently his family did. The Gion Festival is held every July, featuring a large decorated float and music. The parade through the streets has become a Kyoto summer specialty. During the Meiji period, a rule called “Buddhism and Shinto separation” was enacted. Buddhist names and deities were removed from shrines, and “Gion Shrine” was renamed “Yasaka Shrine.” Nene actually walked this path every day. See, it’s written “Nene’s Road.” It’s true. Nene walked this path every day to visit Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s grave. Apparently, the two were married for love. Apparently, she visited him every day. Let me explain about Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s wife, Nene. She was born into a samurai family and married Hideyoshi at a young age. She supported Hideyoshi’s rise to power and helped build relationships with Nobunaga and Ieyasu. She was also said to have been a strong-willed woman. Even after Hideyoshi took control of the country, she played an active role in mediating relationships and was said to have been a kind person, even though she had concubines. After Hideyoshi’s death, she became a nun and built Kodaiji Temple in Kyoto, where she visited daily. The cobblestone path from Entoku-in Temple, where she lived, to Kodaiji Temple is known as “Nene’s Path.” It remains a popular walking path in Kyoto. This approximately 460-meter path embodies Nene’s deep love and devotion to Hideyoshi. Even when Hideyoshi rose to greatness, Nene remarked, “It is those who achieve greatness who must remain humble.” She reportedly repeatedly warned him. Nene was Hideyoshi’s emotional support, calming him with her calmness and kindness. These stories reveal that Nene was a wise and wonderful person. Even today, her teachings about the importance of remaining humble, even when successful, are passed down. I see. Nene taught Hideyoshi the importance of humility. This message resonates with us deeply and is deeply moving. Yes, that’s right. Kyoto is a place rich in history, so traveling there is even more enjoyable if you learn about it first. That’s all I’ll say. Thank you. Thank you. It was fun. This is the “Donguri Republic” on the way to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. I was drawn in. There was a giant Totoro statue, a photo spot, and a garden-style backyard. I enjoyed the world of Ghibli. Yes. It had a mysterious atmosphere that reminded me of the movie. Like Otaru, there were all kinds of shops lined up like a set. This is on the way to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, but there were so many people. And I didn’t hear much Japanese. Yeah. It felt like I was overseas. But I guess that just shows how much of a tourist destination it is attracting attention from around the world. Then I thought, aren’t the shops similar to those in Otaru, Kamakura, and Enoshima? I thought that it was a tourist destination that embodied Japanese culture. There were some shops that were similar. That’s right. But I like the atmosphere. What does it say there? Kiyomizu-dera Temple, I think. That’s right. Are you two? Let me see your tickets. Kiyomizu-dera Temple was built in 778 and got its name from the pure water that springs from Otowa Falls. Apparently, a monk who was training there long ago was so moved by the water that he decided to build a temple there. That’s right. We’ve been drinking the water more often lately, haven’t we? And when we think of temples, we think of praying. This temple is said to grant protection from evil, bring good fortune, and academic success. It ‘s also said to grant good health and longevity. Since we have two 92-year-old fathers, we received two longevity charms. We visited the temple with the hope that they will continue to be healthy. The character for “sueyoshi” Is difficult. Yes. Kimono in Kyoto is very atmospheric. Antique kimonos and yukatas are great, too. I saw some people wearing ones similar to furisode. Apparently, they’re easily available for rental, making them a great keepsake. Apparently, yukatas can be rented for around 3,000 yen. I wonder if they do hair styling, too. Apparently, there are some places that do it for around 1,000 yen. I arrived at Kyoto Station. It was large and modern. The atmosphere was different from Tokyo, and there was modern art. If I had had more time, I would have liked to see more. There were lots of shops, too. I couldn’t find the bus stop, so I had to look around for it. That’s right. There you can see the hotel I introduced in my last Osaka video. A night’s stay for two people with breakfast was a bargain at just under 10,000 yen. I was surprised by the breakfast I had on the 54th floor. There are three airports heading to Osaka: Kansai Airport, Itami Airport, and Kobe Airport. I used all three this year. That’s right. When I went to Ishigaki Island, I stopped off at Kobe Airport, then Kansai Airport on the way back. For the Osaka Expo, I used Itami Airport and Kansai Airport. This time, I called it a “Petit Kyoto Edition.” It was a rather short travel video, but I hope you enjoyed it. It was a bit of a reckless trip, as I went from Hokkaido to Ishigaki Island and stopped off at Osaka and Kyoto on the way back. The 5,300km round trip was quite a long journey, wasn’t it? Yeah. On the way there, I had to fly three times from Chitose Airport to Ishigaki Island. It was probably farther than even the closest overseas destinations. I also dipped my action camera in the seawater off Ishigaki Island. The sound was muffled, and I couldn’t record with good quality. Because of that, I used a little AI this time. I think I’ll be able to upload the next video earlier. I don’t usually feature travel in my vlog “mellow life,” so please bear with me. I’ll do my best. Next time, I’ll visit Okinawa Island, Kamakura, and Enoshima, so I plan to split it into several posts. The weather was so nice this time, I even flew a drone, so please look forward to it. That’s all for today. Thank you for watching until the end. Please subscribe to my channel.
