You Won’t Believe What’s Inside the Hiroshima Museum 🇯🇵 #history #japan #worldwar2 #travel
As you venture further into the museum, you’ll discover the dark natural occurrences that happened after the explosion, such as the radioactive black rain that fell after the explosion. Artifacts recovered from the ruins tell stories too painful to forget. A child’s tricycle melted together with the ground. A watch stopped at 8:15 a.m. the exact moment the bomb was dropped. The shadows of people burned into stone by the unimaginable heat. Clothing donated by the families of the victims along with their lunch and lunch boxes of that day are on display. The walls are lined with letters and messages from survivors, many of whom were children when their world was burned to ashes. Some recall the eerie silence after the explosion, as if even sound itself had been destroyed. Others remember searching through the rubble for loved ones who had vanished in an instant. There are actual overgrown fingernails of victims that are on display. This happened as a result of the exposure to radiation which caused many physical abnormalities years after the bomb went off. This includes kloids, a thick raised scar that grows thicker than the original damage to skin. It’s a place that makes you reflect not just on history but on humanity. As horrific as everything in the museum is, it also sends the message of hope and optimism of brighter days, harmony, and peace. This is reflected in what Hiroshima is today. It is no longer a city of ruins. It has become a symbol of hope, a reminder of the cost of war and a call for peace.
