Can you Stay Under $30 in Japan’s Stupidly Expensive Town Niseko?

There’s hotel room in Tokyo. They’ll cost you about 1400 bucks per night For perspective, an average hotel in the same city is 140 bucks per night Now, this is the same hotel the same room, but it is in the number one ski resort in Japan. It is called Niseko One night here is More than double the price. That’s not a hotel stay. That’s a down payment on a car. So the reason I’m telling this is because a while back, I made a video about Niseko. And in that video, I’ve said, if the video hits more than 10,000 views, I will make more video about the other part of Niseko It just pass 11,000. The only problem is, as we’ve just established, Niseko isn’t just one of Japan most expensive ski towns. It is the most expensive one. So before I pack my bags, I have to figure one thing. Can you actually stay in Japan to the most expensive ski town for less than $30 a night? Here are the ground rules. Number one, the location. The stay has to be inside the Niseko United area or in a town which is close to Niseko. called Kutchan No staying an hour away, like in Sapporo, which is Hokkaido main town. And call it a win. Number two, the season. This has to be during the peak season. I’m talking December to February. No Cheating. By booking a cheap room during the muddy off season we are going when the prices are the highest. Number three the time limit. I need to complete this in 1.5 hours. If time is up. The challenge Ends. so to complete this mission, I have several tools that I can use at my disposal. But. To unlock the tools. I need to pay a fee to this piggy bank. Although it’s not a pig it is a charity piggy bank that we’re going to call him whiskers. Every yen deposited here is going directly to Second Harvest Japan, the country’s largest food bank. Now here’s how the tool works. The more powerful the tool, the higher the cost to unlock it. We have four ranks as a bank. Basically, I’m just going to search Niseko cheap stays. Let’s start with that and see. So the first result is going to be Booking.com. We can’t press that because that’s not this tool capabilities. So I kind of want to find oh there you go. We have like Niseko United official website. We’re going to click on that and see what we can find. Ooh they give you like several accommodations but it’s from July 1st 2020 so I’m not quite sure. Yeah there’s like several hotels that we can look okay. It looks amazing. It looks nice. Yeah. It has hot spring. That’s amazing. But I’m pretty sure it’s not $30. It doesn’t even tell you how much the price is. You kind of need to call them. What should I do? We also cannot use YouTube. Let’s check Reddit. So there’s one dude saying that what’s the cheapest place to stay in Niseko United? If, I’m going solo. I’m not sure about the cheapest price. I’ll be there in early February, and we’re spending about $2,800 for six nights. One night it’s around like $466. That’s like way above our budget. Oh, shit. Oh, there’s one interesting thing this dude called fart GPT. Nice name. Said that there is a youth hostel in Annapuri that always booked up any hostel style lodging. Around $150 a week. If it’s $150 a week. Oh, that’s right, 21 bucks. Oh, there you go. So we got 21 bucks per night in hostel style lodging in Annupuri, Apparently Annupuri is Like the place that we might want to check. Yeah, we have, like, annupuri lodge.com Oh, it looks pretty nice. It looks like a pretty decent hostel. The date. So the date that we need to go is around the peak season of Niseko, which is, I think late December into early January, maybe the 4th of January, maybe 4th is Too crazy. But let’s try 4th of January 2026 for one night. Guests one person. Let’s search. Oh wait, we cannot use this. This is aggregator website, so we cannot use this. Let’s see. Like whether. Do they have a blog for it? Japan travel blog where to stay in Niseko, Japan 4 best areas and hotels. Oh, he gives like a very interesting map. I don’t quite understand what the color mean. All right, important tip. Multiple trips have taught us that this city doesn’t reward Spontaneity when it comes to planning. So you need to go 3 to 4 months before it’s like January, December, November, October. So like they give you like a dollar sign. That means like how expensive it is. And the room looks amazing. This is very, very beautiful hotel. But the price is not that beautiful. Oh wait, the onsen look spectacular. What the Hell. The onsen. looks amazing. Oh, and the price is very painful. Oh, there you go. We have Annupuri Mountain view lodge. Oh, it’s not available. Okay, that’s pretty bad. Okay. Ugh. Like, I don’t know how to search because we cannot use Booking.com, so it’s hard to see what is available. 20 minutes. In the only thing that we know is the cheapest hotel that’s available is around 100 bucks. But the dude from the Reddit site is like 21 bucks per night I’m afraid that that price is like during non-peak season, so I don’t know how to go further from this. So I’m going to unlock the B tier tools. I need to pay ¥1,000. All right. Unlocking it all right. B tier tools. Unlock. So what does Rank B tool gets Us? Rank B is Called London Detective. We can use old school Google search. We can use booking websites. But we cannot use simple AI. And we cannot use advanced AI. Right. So the B tier tools allow us to use all the aggregator website like Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, everything. So let’s go to my favorite website, Booking.com. I love Booking.com. Lodge Moiwa 834 What a trip for. It is around $92, by the way. We stayed at this specific lodge in our previous Niseko Video. Do watch it, it’s very, very comfortable. This one is like $5,318 per night What the f**** what is happening? This is per night price, not per month. It’s just one night. You’d be like $5,000. Are you? Are you. Is this like for Bill gates or something like for for elon Musk? Yeah. All right. Going back to the thing because we only have around like less than one hour now shit. okay Lowest first. The cheapest one is $92. Let’s go to Trip.com $68. The same place. Now we’re getting like almost double of the price that we were allowed to Okay. That’s interesting. Now I know that different aggregator websites give you different rate. Let’s go to Agoda. Oh there you go. $61 is cheaper than trip.com is in Kutchan. Oh. But like overall they have a lot of cheaper options in Agoda because we only have like around 50 minutes left. I’m gonna use A tier tools So A tier tools I need to pay like ¥5,000. That’s like basically more than $30. ¥5,000. And if A tier tools unlock what does rank A tool gets us. Rank A is called British Butler. Here we can use old school Google search. We can use booking websites. We can use simple AI But we cannot use advanced AI. So for the A tier tool I’m allowed to use AI, I can’t change it. Alright So for one week stay deluxe 2 bed Apartment going to cost you around $262 divided by seven oh $37. This is the closest that we get 2 bed Apartment. So it’s for two people. So for one person, $18.5. This is it. We found it. Can you find a hotel? Less than $30 for night in Japan? Most expensive Ski town. The answer is, oh, my. I’m so stupid. I’m so stupid, guys. Apparently the price. For $262. It’s per night. It’s not for the seven days total price. Because when you choose a room that is going to give you like $1,840, we have 14 minutes. Yeah. So basically chat GPT cannot find it, Booking.com cannot find it My app gave something. But we need to call the thing. So I think we need to wait for tomorrow to see whether can we find $30 per night hotel then. All right. So we’re on the second day today. And yeah yesterday was a bit… Bad. But We still have one more hotel from my app and apparently we need to call them.
