On the 29th, Orix Buffaloes pitcher Keisuke Honda (32) announced that he will retire at the end of this season. On the same day, he visited the team’s facility in Maishima, Osaka, and reported the news to the team and his teammates. He joined Seibu as the sixth pick in the 2015 draft from Tohoku Gakuin University, and transferred to Orix in last year’s active player draft. On the 14th of this month, he was notified that he was no longer needed as a player, and has now decided to retire from the front line. Looking back on his 10 years in the NPB, he expressed his gratitude, saying, “I was blessed with the people I met. Their support allowed me to live each and every day.”

In 147 total appearances, he went 12-21-32 hold and ERA 3.93. He also played in his career-high 45 games Seibu in 2010, when he played in a ballpark championship. When he first joined the pro ranks, he was the talk of the town for having the same name as a former Japanese national team soccer midfielder Keisuke Honda. He plans to continue to work for baseball in the future.
