SINGAPORE – Low-cost carrier Air Japan will cease operations from March 2026, some two years after its launch, said ANA Group on Oct 30.

The airline will operate a final flight from Tokyo’s Narita to Singapore (NQ003) on March 28, 2026, and the returning Singapore to Narita route (NQ004) on March 29, 2026.

ANA Group, the parent company of All Nippon Airways, said in a statement on its website that this comes amid a decision to restructure its brand strategy.

It cited a need to “maximise the entire group’s profitability and competitiveness while flexibly responding to recent changes in the business environment”.

It also highlighted concerns globally, such as the war in Ukraine and aircraft delivery delays, which are set to continue.

The group added that it is also managing the ongoing aircraft on the ground (AOG) situation regarding its Boeing 787 aircraft.

AOG refers to when an aircraft is unable to fly due to technical reasons.

To optimise allocation of its resources, the group said that it has decided to suspend its Air Japan flights and will instead focus on its ANA and Peach brands.

Air Japan’s aircraft and human resources will be consolidated into the ANA brand’s operations to expand its international business, it added.

The Air Japan brand was launched in 2024 with services to popular tourist destinations, such as Bangkok and Seoul. Flights between Singapore and Tokyo began in April 2024.

The carrier previously announced on Sept 4 that it will be introducing daily flights from Singapore to Tokyo on Nov 21, up from the current five days a week.

The move was attributed to the introduction of a third Boeing 787 aircraft.

Ticket sales for the added flights were launched on Sept 4. On top of its usual fares, it also offered “simple” fares starting at $226 for one-way trips between Singapore and Tokyo.

Air Japan said on its website that customers with existing reservations can board their flight as scheduled.

Meanwhile, travellers can also continue to book flights on the official Air Japan website, though from March 2026, it will exclusively operate flights under the ANA brand.
