Ren Mukunoki

On the 30th, Orix announced that pitcher Ren Mukunoki pitcher Kaisei Tomatsu will be sent to the Puerto Rico Winter League. They will be playing for Gigantes de Carolina. They will depart the country on the 31st and return to Japan on December 22nd, making this a long-term participation of over a month.

Fourth-year right-hander Mukugi pitched in 12 games this season. He struggled as a starter with two losses and no wins, but showed his aptitude with four hold in six relief appearances since September. Second-year left-hander Higashimatsu made his first-team debut this season and pitched in seven games (two as a starter). While his first professional win was postponed, he showed his great potential with a fastball that exceeds 150 km/h.

In the past, Fuku Yamazaki (currently Nippon-Ham) and T-Okada have trained in Puerto Rico and played key roles as pitchers and hitters. These two players are expected to make great strides next season, and they will bring back valuable experience from a foreign land.
