The Westin Osaka will host the “Hokkaido Fair,” featuring Hokkaido’s three major crabs—king crab (tarabagani), snow crab (zuwai-gani), and horsehair crab (kegani)—from October 14 to December 30 in Osaka, Japan.

In the kaiseki course, seasonal kinki (broadbanded thornyhead), sashimi of fresh sea urchin and botan shrimp, a nimono-wan that fuses kasujiru and Ishikari nabe, and dishes such as true shishamo, saketoba (dried salmon jerky), and oyako kamameshi of herring and kazunoko or of autumn salmon and salmon roe are served. Prices are 12,000 yen for the lunch kaiseki and 25,000 yen for the dinner kaiseki. The crab hot pot course features an appetizer presented in a horsehair crab shell, a crab nabe for side-by-side tasting of king crab and snow crab, zosui rice porridge, and fresh fruit. Prices start at 40,000 yen per person.

Additionally, the event “Izakaya Hanano” will be held for 10 days only during the fair. In a private space limited to 8 guests, you can enjoy the chef’s storytelling paired with sake. About 30 kinds of snacks to go with drinks are offered all-you-can-eat, including Hokkaido regional dishes such as salmon chanchan-yaki and kazunoko Matsumae-zuke, freshly fried zangi, miso ramen, and shutō (salted fish entrails). The price is 12,000 yen. Drinks are charged separately.
