Riding Japan’s Bullet Train for the First Time 🇯🇵 (Osaka to Fukuoka)

Right, folks. Sorry to the channel. We are currently in Osaka Metro. We need to get the Shinkans in. And I don’t really know where I need to go. Our train leaves in just a few minutes. So, let’s do quicks down here. All right, let’s get out of this place. Keep my ticket. Shinkansen, where are you? All right, guys. So, normally I like to be very early to things, but due to a few knock-on circumstances, such hitting every red man on the way there and there being just a crazy queue at the ticket thing for the metro. I’m running very very late and I can’t miss a straight. That should be platform 20. I don’t know where that is, but this is a queue. I think we’re cooped. That’s us there. 11:20. Thank you. Oh, platform 20, I think. I didn’t actually check the platform on the sign. Yes, it’s 20. This side. I think we’ve made it. We got 5 minutes. Car six. That’s our car. Oh, I can’t believe it. We made it. I was I was in two minds whether or not we’re going to make it, but we have, which is great. This looks like the queue to get on my car. So, what a relief. Anyway, guys, welcome to the channel. Today, we’re going to be taking the Shinkansen from here in Osaka all the way down to Fukuaka. Stopping at the station is Hakata. Uh we’ll leave at 11:20 and we get there at 1359. So it’s not too long of a journey. Uh we’re in the green car which is like business class. So that’ll be a nice experience for us and we’ll get uh see a little bit of the countryside. So on car 6, seat 14 here. It’s a hot day to be running in the sun as well. It’s 30° I think today. And here we are, folks. Yes, this is what our seat looks like. Looks pretty comfortable. Pretty comfortable there. And says we have a window seat. And the windows on here are nice and big. So, that’s good. We get some nice views along the way. So, let’s have a quick once over the seat. Even show you the one next to us, which isn’t taken yet, but I’m sure it will be eventually. Got a really big tray table that retracts backwards and forwards. A little cup ring. Got a net for some stuff. So, I can put my my camera bum bag in there. We’ve got like a little footrest. So, I guess you can have it up if you want to have it that way or you can flip it down. Got sort of spring loaded. So, you can sit like that. You have some controls here. Oh, it recines. So, you do that. You’ll go back and you can go forward, I presume. Yes. If you lean forward, it’ll go forward. This looks like for the legs or something. I’m not sure. Well, I can’t figure out that one does. I think it’s meant to be for the recline. I’m not sure. Yes, this is pretty comfortable actually. I think we’ll recline back cuz why not? Hopefully it doesn’t disturb the people behind me too much. You have some window shades there as well, like a blind and overhead storage as well. I can’t believe we made it. I thought we were going to miss it for sure when I was on that metro and it was taking forever. Right, we’re setting off at 11:21. So pretty much back on time. [Music] [Music] Right guys, another couple of things I’ve just seen as well. We’ve got um plug socket there and then a light which is on your chair there which you can control from the arm. Guys, there’s even more stuff on this chair that I missed. Um, in the arm, there’s another little table. [Music] So, if you’re just having like a coffee or a little like snack or something, you can just put it on there instead of using the whole trade table in front of you. But yeah, you’re pretty well stocked here. This is good. Right guys, now it’s time to check out the toilet. So just up here to be further along. Good luck on that. Right. So, here’s the toilet on the she can end. We’ve got a little sink, little baby changing table. There’s the toilet. Um, flush sensor, lowering sensor. Place hand over the sensor to lower seat. There you are. The Japanese spoiler for a good laugh. Um, but this is probably the least advanc advanced one I’ve seen. The one in the hotel I was just at, it was a heated seat. Delightful. It would wash your butt. It would then blow dry your butt and the water was warm and the air was warm. Um, and if you’re a lady, you can like wash your front bits as well. Like, yeah, it had like settings for everything. And there was like three types of flush. There was flush, um, mild flush, I think it was, and then there was also um, eco flush. Right. So, here it is. Is that touched activated as well or just a normal sensor tap? I don’t see any soap though. Yeah, I don’t see any soap, but it might be here somewhere for spare paper all pushed down. All right, so there is some toilet paper. That’s a toilet paper. All right, so we got toilet paper there. I just don’t see any salt for that. What does this say? Seat cleaner. Anyway, guys, I’m going to use this and then I’ll get back to my seat. And that’s pretty much the journey over. There’s not much more to show you on this train. There’s no restaurant car, there’s no dining car. A lot of people were bringing on little bento boxes, eky bins, eeky bento, whatever they called um to their seats because I was in a mad dash to get on this one. I didn’t do that at all. That was the plan. So, for the next shinkanzen, I won’t be so late. And I’ll make sure I get myself a little bento box. All right, guys. So, I’ve just come out that toilet. There’s actually another toilet here. It’s just a urinal for men. So, that’s interesting. I’ve never seen that on a train before. And I was thinking, where’s the soap in there? But there’s another sink here, and it’s got soap. So, I’ve washed my hands again properly. There’s also a little razor area. So, if you want to have a little shave here, you could. This doesn’t show anything, but I think what this might have been back in the day, um I think what this might have been back in the day was a smoking room cuz on these trains back in the day, you could smoke. A lot of people in Japan still smoke. It’s quite a smoking culture, but I believe they stopped it just a few years ago, but there used to be even like smoking cars where there would be like ventilation or whatever. So I think maybe that’s what this was back in the day was a vent. You could just stand in there and just for me it could be wrong. Anyone that knows or who’s come to Japan a long time ago or any Japanese people been watching, please let me know. It be really interesting uh to know how it used to work. Look at these windows. Interesting as well. No step down. That’s what is different uh to what I notice on let’s say Polish train. These always be a step down to get to the platform down here. Right, let’s go back to our seat. And you’ll notice we went through the normal cars to get in the green cars where we’re staying. So you can see a little bit above what the regular seating is, which to me still seems really spacious. You’ve still got two two configuration, not three three. And they look very nice and plush. The color schemes a bit old for my taste, but yeah, it looks great. Well guys, a successful trip. Very, very comfortable. Can recommend. And the footrest thing did work. I just wasn’t pressing the button right. You have to press it all the way and push harder and then it’ll come up. But it wasn’t needed. It was very comfortable anyway. [Music] Well, that was fantastic. Let’s see if we can get to the front of our train and uh see the front of the Shinkans then before it takes off. I don’t know if we’ll have time cuz these guys don’t stop for very long at the stations. Also, let’s check the time. 13:59. We’ve arrived on the minute, a minute early if anything because there’s various types as well as Shinkansen. They’re not all the same speed and they’re not all the same design. Um but for instance, the one we are going to be taking later in this trip from the north island of Hokkaido all the way back down to Tokyo will be the Hayabusa um Shinkansen, which is the fastest of the lot. We’ve made it to the front. How awesome is that? That is so cool. You just see how sleek it is. Almost like an aircraft with a cockpit in the front there with our driver. That’s awesome. Hey, we got a wave. Awesome. So, yeah, we can see here there’s another type as well. Different design. And these open up at the front as well to dock if they need to uh connect them. You can see here as well. Completely different design. Much more circular with a sort of bulbous cockpit almost like a like a fighter in that aspect. And there goes our train. Awesome. And well guys, I hope you’ve enjoyed that video. Plenty more. If you like Shinkansens, if you like trains in Japan, stick around cuz we’ve got a lot more to come. We have 3 weeks and we’re taking to Shinkansen in a day. Basically, we’ve got a ferry coming up. We’ve got food. We got breakfast. We And after this, I’m going to go get some ramen because here in Fukuaka, Kata Ramen, Tonkatu ramen. This is the birthplace of that. So, we’re going to try that. We’re going to try miso ramen in Saporo when we get there. That’s the birthplace of that. We’re doing it all, guys. We’re fitting in as much as we can into this trip. But now I’m going to take probably the metro. There’ll be another video of the Fukuoka Metro. And then later this evening, I’m going to be going to a baseball game to watch the Soft Bank Hawks. So, if that interests you guys, stick around and uh enjoy what’s to come. Thanks for watching, guys, and I’ll catch you on the next one. Five.
