Exploring Nagasaki: Peace Park, Atomic Bomb Museum & Wagyu Burger Adventure

Good morning everyone. Good morning. We’re now in Nagazaki at the Peace Park, Atomic Peace Park or just Peace Park. Since we’ve been to Hiroshima two years ago, we are now in Nagazaki, the second city which got bombed by the atomic bomb on the 9th of August, 1945. It’s 10:00 a.m. in the morning. Quite hot already. And now we’re going to have a look on this park and also go later to the atomic bomb museum. The park starts here with a fountain. Can you read what’s written there actually? Yeah, I saw the words is written. Um, this is from a part of the diary of this girl and she is so thirsty. As I read before that normally while going to the atomic bomb memorial places, people will bring a pot of water because back then what they need the most was water and then they were burning. They couldn’t find proper water. So, a pot of water is a thing to serve to them. And at this part of the girl’s diary, she’s saying that she’s so thirsty. Her throat is so thirsty, but there’s no water to drink. What can what she can drink is only the water has oil floating on that. This is very heartbreaking. So, we’re back after the museum. took around 2 hours and yeah it’s 80 years now since the bombing of Nagazaki and Hiroshima and I think Nagazaki the museum is also very heavy. They have a lot of videos and pictures specific of dead people also and also burnt clothes and burnt clothes and stuff. Um yeah I said it took more than 2 hours. Um, I would recommend if you go to Nagazak to go at the museum. Um, I think the whole park is also very nice here. I think Hiroshima gets all the credit kind of for the atomic bombs um because they were the first and they have this atomic bomb dome. This building which is very um yeah central in Hiroshima compared to Nagazaki an international no one. Yeah. But it’s an interesting museum. It’s a heavy stuff of course. Um but Nagasaki one is also well built and well present compared to the Hiroshima one. Absolutely. But surprisingly there are not that many people coming here. It’s very empty here compared to Hiroshima. Well, Hiroshima is more central than in Japan. So maybe school class go there for sure compared to Nagasaki which is really at the western edge of Japan. So it’s more difficult to reach also I guess. Yeah. You feel it. still part of the city. So for now it’s lunch time. We will go to a temple. Mhm. The name is written here. So it’s better that the ride is here. Um and yeah then we will go to our show guide from yesterday to have lunch I guess and walk around the city center a little bit. Yes. So, let’s and get out of the heat also. When the sun is shining, it’s brutal hot. Today is really hot. Yeah. Yeah. So, let’s go. We finished the temple. Mhm. And now we go to a to the Megan Bashi um classes bridge. It looks like glasses when it’s clear. When it’s clear the water and we will have a look how it looks. It’s around 10 minutes to walk. And then we go through our arcades. The shortening guy to have lunch there. Mhm. It’s brutal hot. That’s why we’re in the shadow. Uh let’s continue. Try a vacuum burger. Wow, this is very fatty. O m. It’s dripping a lot, but it’s very delicious. Best burger ever. Oh man. So tripping fatty, soft. It’s really so juicy, but not from sauce. It’s from the burger. The patty meat itself. And the salad is totally fresh, clean. and a little bit muscular. It also brings very good flavor. How many points of 100? I would say 9.5 from 10. So, okay. So, 95 points. Okay. I would give it also 95. Mhm. Man, so good. What a burger. Mhm. So good. Amazing. The burger was very juicy. well seasoned and the meat is incredibly tender. You could hardly even taste meat in your mouth. And the bun was homemade. It was a perfect amount of pepper, mayonnaise, ketchup. The the the bread I said already was very nice. The salad was good and yeah, I think it’s the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. And it’s so flavorful, but those flavors are not fighting with each other. They are very harmony harmonized together. Perfect burger. We’ll show the the restaurant here in one of the corners and recommend to go there. The burger was only in euros €1080s. Nice. Uh €1,800 yen with the um exchange rate right now. Kind of very cheap, I would say. So, yeah. Let’s continue. Hi, we are in Dejima Island. So I read that here um the Jima island they built um 1636 and uh back then proto Portuguese they it’s preventing them to um give Christian religions to Japanese people that’s why they built this island and they cannot enter the mankind. So earlier we enter from here and right now we are at left side and we will go to the right side. This is the mini Dejima. You see Dejima Island, the miniature of it what Sher just showed. And back in the days there were no foreigners all around in Japan. So they used this island. Back in the day was an island. Nowadays we are surrounded by concrete and other streets. So they made up more land afterwards. But back in the days it was an island and the foreigners first the Portuguese came here for trading but they’re as I said not allowed to enter Japan because they also bring their Christianity and and try to make them uh Catholic and um there is nothing higher than the Tenno. Yeah, the Tenno or Shagun back then. Yeah, the Shugun. Yeah, there is no other god. No, nothing bigger than the Shugon. So they were not allowed to enter the island and or Japan in all total that’s why first the Portuguese came and afterwards um it were the Dutch people that’s why there are many Dutch flags here also later also the British people but yeah this was the island where they made trade and where the foreigners were settled in first time in in Japan. So, right now is 4:50. It’s correct. As Sasha said, I cannot see that. picture. So, we finally finished the whole Dejima Island. It’s quite interesting that we saw even the history of what we watch in the TV series Shogun. So the andin sama before he was also here and he’s very good with the tokunaga. So he tookawa real name in the history. So he received the Japanese name from this shogun and then he gave great distribution to this place since they became very good friends. Watch it on season 1 Shogun on Disney Plus. Disney. Disney Plus. Yeah, maybe not sponsored by Disney. There’s a shopping center. And in the shopping center is a football stadium. So for me, I get myself a sushi cafe. three layers. And for Sasha is this some sushi. And for Sasha’s snack, he has a chocolate donut. For me, it’s the midash dangle. Guess how much is that? 88 yen, which is 50 centur and two drinks. In total, we paid around €13.70 for it. Hey guys, it’s time for onen. It’s onen time number two. Onen counter ticking down here. See you later. To give you an idea what a Japanese onen looks like, I took the following video early in the morning, but it was still empty. In the lobby in front of the onzen, there were sofas for a relaxing underp pleasant warm lightning. Behind the curtain is the room where you change. There are also lockers and you can dry your hair and get ready after the onen. In the onzen itself, the first thing you have to do is to wash yourself from top to bottom several times using the stools provided. Three to four full washes at 40° are recommended. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided free of charge in every oil. There are several pools. Usually one is cold with temperatures around 12 to 16° C and the others have temperatures between 38 and 42° C. Often there’s also an outdoor area like here where there is a pool with massage jets and two smaller round bathtubs for one person each. It feels good to sit in the hot water and breathe the fresh air. On our trip, we had the opportunity to use the hotel’s own onen on 10 out of 15 nights. After an intensive day, it always feels good to end the day in an onen.

Join us on a day in Nagasaki as we explore the city’s powerful history and vibrant modern life. We visit the Atomic Bomb Museum and the Peace Park to reflect on the past, then treat ourselves to a delicious Wagyu burger in the afternoon. To end the day we went to a football stadium inside a shopping mall for dinner. A moving and tasty journey through Nagasaki!
