Magome-juku is our Day 1/3 on the Nakasendo Trail in Japan. We walked 9km from Nakatsugawa.

Our adventures in Japan takes us to the historic 540km Nakasendo Trail used by the Shogun and linked Kyoto to Edo during Japan’s Edo period. We are hiking a small 3-day section of the route. Day 1 is an easy 9.5km hike from Nakatsugawa to Magome-Juku, one of the 69 original post towns on the route that popped up to accommodate the mail delivery workers (hence the name!) Soba shops and souvenirs are the main focus these days.
