Set in an alternate early 20th-century Kyoto where only steam technology has advanced, the story follows a boy who has lost his brother (his partner in dreaming of a new “Age of Electricity”) and a devout girl who carries both admiration and regret for her late mother. Their fateful encounter sparks an adventure surrounding the mysterious 20th Century Electrical Catalog, leading them on a journey of rediscovery and emotional rebirth.

“This story takes place in a world where steam—not electricity—is the driving force of society. From the audition stage, I was directed to perform with the mindset of that era, which helped me immerse deeply into the role. I’ll give it my all so that everyone can enjoy Sparks of Tomorrow! Please look forward to it.”

Sora Amamiya (Inako Momokawa)
“When I saw the character designs during the audition, I was immediately drawn in—the visuals were stunning, and Inako’s lines were so sincere and endearing that I couldn’t help but want to play her. The story interweaves serious drama with bursts of humor, creating a world that feels full of color. It’s a constant challenge for me as an actor, but I’ll do my best to portray Inako’s pure-hearted faith and determination.”

Director Minoru Ota (Kyoto Animation)
“This is a story about characters who all begin from a place of loss or frustration, finding the strength to rise again through their encounters and conflicts. Their emotional honesty and perseverance will surely move the hearts of viewers. The muted tones of the world serve to highlight their inner struggles, creating a visual experience both fresh and deeply resonant. I hope you’ll witness this new chapter of the Kyoto Animation world with your own eyes.”
