We went to Olympic NP one year ago this month. Was absolutely stunning. HIGHLY recommend.
Also went to Haystack Rock on the same trip. We were luck enough to get there at low tide in the evening. Sun was setting, could walk up right near the rock. Some of the most beautiful pictures I have taken. Sun hallowing around the rocks on Haystack and the surrounding rocks. One of those moments you do not forget. To top it off. On the way up the hill to the stairs down to the beach. We were stopped in our tracks, a heard of elk came out of the woods from the neighborhood across the street. We just stood there watching as more and more came out. They walked straight towards us as we were standing just a few feet off the end of he road. As they crossed the street towards the shore line, we remained still. As one of the bull elks with massive horns passed us within about 20 yards, he just glanced at us as if to say. How Are You Guys Doing !!!!! And just walked on. UNREAL !!!!!
Fun part was when we were leaving, the same heard was laying down in the small field of an apartment complex next to the street. Everyone was taking pictures and the elk acted like it was just another day. Another first at Haystack Rock. Will never forget that evening. One in a million.

Moab is beautiful with plenty of shops in downtown area. However, some of the shops have staff that are very protective for lack of better words. From constant watch for thieves to "secret shoppers" eyeing your every move. It made us feel unwelcome and kept me from wanting to contribute to being a patron again.
I’ve never seen it explained this way.
