The Japanese national team staged a great comeback: after losing the first match of the tie versus Australia, Ozawa/Tsukamoto leveled the score (6-1a 6-3 against Villamizar/Brycki), before Tokumoto/Kushima sealed the decisive victory (6-2 6-3).
Iran, on the other hand, needed only the first two matches to overcome Indonesia, the big surprise of the event taking place at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash International Complex. Wins from Najafi Dehaghi/Hana and Zahrizi/Fard earned Iran a spot in the final.
