I Reviewed Tokyo DisneySea’s COVETED Hotel MiraCosta… Unbelievable

Today we find ourselves in Japan reviewing the world’s only hotel built into a Disney park, the Mira Costa. From the breathtaking lobby to the Italian inspired theming to a full room tour, we’re taking you along with us to see if this hotel deserves a place on your bucket list. But if you’re new here, we’re Mitch and Ella of Michelico. And after 5 years, 20 countries, and over a hundred travel videos, we’re starting our biggest adventure yet around the world in 80 days. From theme park resorts to luxury escapes to iconic city hotels, we’re showing you the most unforgettable places to stay and what to do nearby. In our last video, we are road tripping across England to walk out to Stonehenge and get completely rained on. And then we drove to D diddly squat farms just before it closed all in one day. But this week we’re kicking off our around the world in 80 days series in Japan. [Music] Now this is the pinnacle of luxury. It is a five-star hotel and it is earned it. If you take a step inside, you’ll see why. But it has uh 3,000 Google reviews out of 4.5. So it’s doing pretty good. and it’s literally built into Disneyland Tokyo, which is supposed to be one of the best theme parks in the world. So, it’s checking off all the boxes. But let’s take a look inside. The hotel is incredibly large. You can see it from far away. It’s got this Venetian Italian theme throughout. Uh it was built in 2001 and it opened with Disney Sea at the same time, so makes sense that they’re built with each other. Uh, but there’s 502 rooms, lots of variety, and that will dictate your price. But we’re going to uh check inside. I’m going to tell you about checking in. As soon as you walk in, you’re going to have to pick your jaw off off the ground because it is spectacular in here. The detail that goes into this Venetian Tuscan theme throughout. Every ceiling is covered, every surface is covered with uh some Disney details, but they really lean into the theming. Even the ceiling in um above, which I’m going to show you in a second, has different paintings for the different areas of Disney Sea, like the mermaid uh lagoon, as well as just the sub areas. And it’s incredible. I can’t even believe that this is what the ceiling consists of of a hotel. If you’re relaxing and waiting for your room to be prepared before you check in, you can drop the kiddos here. They have a Aladdin going on and these baby stools that they can sit and watch a movie. Oh, I just love it. All the nice touches. So, you’re going to come inside. You’re going to go to the left. Uh, a bellhop is going to greet you and ask to take your bags or you’re going to check in on the desk behind me. Oh my gosh, I can’t say more good things about the service of checking in. so polite, so um detail oriented, and they give you everything you need with uh like early access. You fill out a customs form, you have your passport, and even it’s about to be my husband’s birthday, Mitch. And they found it out on his passport and brought him a card signed by Mickey, after we checked in. Just the little touches are what makes this five-star hotel five stars. Also behind me is the bellhop desk where you can drop your luggage off at any time, especially when you check in early um in the day. They’ll hold on to it for you. They already have your name and reservation and everything. Uh but also if you go to check out and you’re just staying for the early entry, they will hold your luggage uh at the beginning of the day until you get back from the theme park. Also, Disney parks will transfer your luggage between hotels without you even needing to um step in. So, that is an incredible extra feature, too. But, we are going to take you around through the gift shop. And then, uh we have some food coming up, too. You know you have made it to a nice hotel when they have their own merch. This window just depicts a couple things you can pick up. But, didn’t you need your Mira Costa wallet? Shouldn’t that be on your Christmas list this year? It’s also Disney. So, yeah, they got their own merch. [Music] It is Halloween right now, so they do have some themes for Halloween, but behind me are the ponchos. It is totally pouring out. We are here in October, the first day of October. Um, I was going to order ponchos online, but they’re $12 here. That’s not too bad. Multiple sizes and they’re themed after Disney, but the floors. So many Disney ears. The best thing I found is um mini ears on keychains. I’ve never seen this before at any of the parks. I mean, we’re we’re Paris. We’re California. Florida’s coming up next. Japan. And then we have two chinas left, but I don’t know if you can get this anywhere else. So, this hotel doesn’t really have um graband go bites. This is about the closest you’ll get. It’s a lot of sugary themed food. We even have some like goldfish style uh let’s see if I get I don’t think I can get it. Goldfish style crackers. Um popcorn from Peter Pan. Some twisties from Sleeping Beauty. All these good things. But it’s just so cool to see the different country with the different themes. But the chocolates though, me and Mitch were eyeing these and you can do the conversion. Um, fun tip, it’s built into your calculator. So, definitely one of the apps you should have if you’re coming to Japan in general and Disney is that you should get a um calculator where you can do the uh conversion of yen to whatever your dollar is. Like I said, this is the closest you’ll grab and go food. You got a cup of noodles all of this. But definitely make sure you like and subscribe because we are going to all the Disney parks in one year. You got to make sure you go back and watch California. You got Florida coming up and then Disney paired with this hotel review. Not going to lie, it’s going to be magic. But make sure you hit that notification so you see us in China, too, coming up fast. We’re making our way to the pool. This one actually has one home delivery service. I found this on the website where if you buy so much Disney merch while you’re here, you can ship it home and they have an entire center dedicated to getting it back to your residents. That that’s just crazy to me that they know you’re going to shop when you’re here. You can mail the Christmas presents now. Yeah, the get ahead of schedule. It’s October. Yeah, it’s coming. Guys, we’ve made it to the south elevator in such a bright and ornate uh I mean, even the doors, they’re like etched in with dolphins. Get out of here. The marble is insane. Oh, but I’ll also say that you can check out through your TV and return your room key. They’re everywhere, these boxes. Um, if you didn’t spend any money, so that can save you a lot of time when everybody’s checking out at the same time. This hallway is getting down with music, but also it’s giving us so much. You had the home delivery service right off the check-in, and then you can actually view into the park because it’s open right now. We’re in the uh middle of the afternoon, but you can tell that this hotel is actually built into the park by seeing into people enjoying themselves while they’re there. Uh, but I’m I’m just going to say if you’re here early, you need to explore this hotel instead of just waiting. And I know that that lobby is pretty spectacular, but explore. There’s so much to see. [Music] We’ve made it to the pool and spa. The second you get off the elevator, you can feel the moisture in the air. We’re like coming around. Um there’s a beautiful welcome desk. They greet you and then escort you to the pool and the spa, which is like the locker room, so you can shower off and get ready. There is a bar that you can um get drinks. I don’t think you can swim up to. It’s you you walk up to it, but um I’ll say that it costs extra to access the pool. So, if this is on your list, then you got to stay here. I also wanted to add that it says the pool and spa, but there’s not any true spa. What they do offer is massages in your room. So, they can come to you um between certain hours of the day. And that will be if you need I your legs rubbed after walking 20,000 mi. But just something to note, there’s not a true spa here. It is extremely clean in Japan. But what I will say is sometimes every once in a while I see a cigarette on the ground and I think that it’s more uh I don’t know accepted common accepted and common in the country. And so there is legit indoor smoke smoking lounge that you can take advantage of if that’s your price. Behind me there is a huge viewing area with all the glass walled uh ceiling to floor mirror no windows and you can see into the Tokyo Sea. Let’s talk food. So if you’re not eating a cup of noodles, there’s three main restaurants that you can choose from in here. Uh this one’s the Bella Vista Lounge and all of these not all of them. This one overlooks the harbor into Disneyland, uh, Tokyo Sea. And you can see some shows at certain times. And so this is more of a buffet. Oh, there’s something going on there. This is more of a buffet in the mornings for breakfast. I think we looked and it was like $35 US. Um, and now it’s onto its lunch menu, so it does roll over, but I will advise to make reservations first. The next two are in the same room. We have Oceanana which is uh lunch and dinner buffet or dinner courses and then come over here. We’ll make it to the Silk Road Garden which is Chinese food. So or Oceaniano is Mediterranean and Silk Garden Silk Road Garden is Chinese. I feel like a princess walking down this uh hallway, but I almost said aisle. And the reason is because when I was doing my research, they actually have a wedding venue here, which is crazy. Can you imagine? It’s one thing getting married at like um Florida at the castle, but you come to Japan in Tokyo and get married at Disney Sea. That is crazy. There’s a bridal salon down this way. I’m going to try to find it for you guys. We couldn’t get access to the chapel, but I’m going to try to find it, too. I found at least the bridal salon. There’s consultations going in there right now, so who knows? Some of the people that are here today could be married in the next year at Disney Tokyo Sea. Uh it’s just crazy that this is actually a wedding venue. I still wish we could get the chapel. I’m going to have to drop in some photos from their website so you guys can see it, too. But this area is mostly convention areas. We’ve almost made it to every northwest, east, south of the um lobby. Welcome to room 5150. Would I recommend this room? Probably not. We’re pretty deep into the hotel, but come on in. Okay, so right off the entryway is our first closet. It’s motion sensored from the other side where the light comes on. You’ll notice the wallpaper in here is astounding. There’s a shelf built in and there’s even slippers on the ground that you can put on. Then we have the bathroom area. Wow, this Can we just take a second for this room? This is stunning. They perfectly perched each uh drawer open to show you that there’s tissues to be found in there, that there is a haird dryer to be found in here and a hairbrush. Then we have like the best princess mirror I’ve seen. There’s all these different pieces. I mean, we just got here with you guys. I don’t even know what’s in this one. Uh Q-tips. It’s a little like get out of here. This is so cute. There’s got to be toothbrushes in here. There’s plastic mugs and I believe that you can take all of this with you. So, in the higher price of this day, you get these souvenirs, too. We have a bedet, of course, guys. To this isn’t our first rodeo. And then we have what drops down in to the shower and bath area. Um, my favorite part is look at these towels. Monogrammed Mickey. I just It’s the details, guys. But let’s take you into the bedroom. Further into the room, we make it to my husband’s favorite part, which would be the coffee station. We do have tea, uh, glasses, cups for tea and coffee, even an ice bucket. And I saw in the hallway there’s definitely ice machines. And then down here in this beautiful built-in, what do you want to say? Nook counter, there is a mini fridge. And then we open it. There are three bottles of water. If I had to guess, this would be complimentary. So, that’s nice. They’re already chilled in the mini fridge tucked away in here. But if you didn’t know, now you do. And then my favorite part of a room is the full length mirror. So you can check your Disney fit before you leave, like my Cinderella one today. But the PS resistance is the bedroom. Guys, can you imagine yourself in this room? Okay, so you’re laying here. We’re going to have to try to test out the bed, but you start to look up and the ceiling is full of constellations of your favorite Disney characters over the top of you. And that is the way you go to sleep. There’s something truly magical about this room. But full tour. Okay, come with me. We have a nice little little seating area. And what I’ll say is it comes with more goodies. I think this is a souvenir bag. And these are uh postcards so you can take them with you. Then there’s also the most incredible map as an piece of artwork in the background. Okay, we make it to the full size TV that definitely the whole remote is in uh Japanese, so you’re going to have to work your way through that. But I like the background. We have the pajamas in the drawer and it’s so wonderful. We just checked in and somebody that had set this up opens each of the drawers so you can see all the goodies throughout the room. Uh, I did want to say that I thought that maybe you could take the pajamas with you, but I think it’s just the magic in the room. So, you got to keep them here. Then we have uh where we put our luggage and the beds. It’s very um common in Japan to have two separate beds, but I’ll say that they really accommodate to families. So, they even have um some instructions to pull out a bed for children. And then see it’s pretty firm. I also hear that about Japan that beds are really firm. The pillows are so petite I would say. And then we have the tapestry behind me that again is incredible. Really compliments the room. So overall the vated ceilings, the two beds. Um then I have to take you to the view though. Okay, I’ll be honest. We did not splurge the extra $180 to upgrade to get a view room, but I’m okay with it. When you stay here, you know, you’re going to spend most of your time in the Disney parks. That’s the whole reason you’re staying here, right? For the early entry and the perks. Um, but this has uh a view of the front. If you wanted to get a view of the park entry, which you could, you’d be in the Tuscan area, or they even have some not villas, but suites that upgrade that are higher up with better even better views. But of course, those comes with bigger price tags, which is one of the things that I need to discuss, how much we spent on this hotel. So, I would highly recommend that when you stay here, you should just book a day for this hotel. Make use of that pool. There is no gym. I’ll let let you guys know. But um make your food reservations in advance and try all the different restaurants that they have to offer and fully immerse yourself in the hotel. But that being said, our price point for booking this, we did it like a month in advance was $650. And so it was definitely more extreme for us personally and also was our first Disney hotel. But I was obsessed with this hotel. Not going to lie with you guys. I I I really really really wanted this one. So, I did pay a higher price, but I am so stoked to make the most of Disneyland Tokyo. See, tomorrow, which we will be taking you along as well. So, overall, definitely book it. We love it here already. We’re going to get a nice rest. We’re going to eat some food and then make it into the park early tomorrow. But, thank you so much for watching. Make sure you like and subscribe so you can see all 80 of our stays around the world as well as all the Disney parks within one year. So, we’ll see you on the next one. [Music] [Music]
