Lejla Fernandes is the winner of the WTA 250 tournament in Osaka. The Canadian defeated qualifier Tereza Valentova from the Czech Republic in the final – 6:0, 5:7, 6:3.
Valentova is ranked 78th on the WTA rankings and defeated Olga Danilović in three sets on her way to the final. Fernandes managed to win a set without dropping a game for the fifth time this season.
She won the fifth trophy of her career and the second this year. She previously won the WTA 500 tournament in Washington.
