As previously reported, following the main event of yesterday’s WWE Supershow live event in Tokyo, Japan, CM Punk and Shinsuke Nakamura introduced former WWE Champion AJ Styles, noting that it was likely Styles’ final time wrestling in front of the live Japanese audience. Styles then received a huge ovation and a big sendoff by the fans in attendance and the WWE locker room, who entered the ring to pay tribute to Styles. Fightful Select has an interesting note for yesterday’s celebration.

According to Fightful, WWE instructed the heels working the WWE Supershow tour to stay in the entrance way during Styles’ emotional celebration. Earlier in the night, Styles defeated The New Day’s Kofi Kingston.

As noted, Styles has spoken openly about his intention to retire later next year. His current WWE contract will reportedly expire early next year, but it’s unknown if he’s signed any extension that will take him deeper into 2026.

Additionally, Fightful reports that other Japanese wrestling veterans were in attendance at the WWE Supershow event and visited with WWE talent, including Hiromu Takahashi and Kikutaro. As previously noted, Pro Wrestling NOAH veteran and all-time great Naomichi Marufuji was also in attendance and sitting ringside at the event.

Marufuji also embraced AJ Styles during the WWE Supershow and later paid tribute to the wrestler later on social media, writing, “Thank you @ajstylesorg. It was an honor to wrestle with you. #WWE #WWESuperShowJapan”
