Chris Glenn needs no introduction among fans of samurai history and culture. Hailing from Australia, the longtime Nagoya resident is a radio DJ, TV presenter and author specializing in feudal Japanese castles, armor, weapons and battles.
This month, Glenn, 57, will step into the shoes of one of Japan’s most famous historical figures. He’s set to portray Oda Nobunaga in the Three Heroes Parade of the 71st Nagoya Festival on Oct. 18 and 19, where Japan’s three great unifiers — Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu — march through the city center alongside their soldiers.
“I feel particularly honored to have been chosen as Nobunaga because he’s considered the most important of the three — the master of both Hideyoshi and Ieyasu,” Glenn says.
