AJ Styles addressed the crowd at Ryogoku Sumo Hall on Saturday following what was possibly his final match in Japan.

The segment took place after the main event of the WWE Supershow in Tokyo. CM Punk introduced Styles, informing the audience of the moment’s significance.

There’s somebody in the locker room that shares the feelings I have about Japan and the culture and the Japanese wrestling fans. And tonight was more than likely the last time he will ever wrestle in Tokyo or in Japan as a whole. I would like to bring out the face that runs the place, the phenomenal AJ Styles.

Styles entered the ring and thanked the Japanese fans, crediting his time in the country for his success in WWE.

“It should be me thanking you for everything you’ve done for AJ Styles. So thank you for everything you’ve done for me,” Styles said. “I don’t know where I would be without you. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be here in the WWE if it wasn’t for you and coming here and wrestling in Japan. But I wrote something and I had it translated in Japanese because I want to make sure it’s said in your language so you can know how much that I love and appreciate you. So Nakamura, if you wouldn’t mind, do you mind reading what I wrote?”

Shinsuke Nakamura, who was also in the ring, then read Styles’ prepared message to the crowd in Japanese. The translated message read:

When I first came to Japan, I didn’t know what people expected from me or if someone like me would be accepted here. But from the very first day, you welcomed me with respect and passion.

Every time I passed through the curtain to the ring in Japan, I gave everything I had. I felt that you all were worthy of it. In return, you gave me something I will never forget. That is trust, energy, and love for professional wrestling. Tonight, I may be leaving this ring but a part of my heart will always remain here in Japan, and within each and every one of you. Thank you.

Following the address, members of the WWE touring roster came to the ring to embrace Styles. CM Punk and Ivar then hoisted Styles onto their shoulders to salute the fans.

Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Naomichi Marufuji was also seated ringside for the show and embraced Styles before his match.

The events were captured by fans in attendance and posted to social media.

After the match, Styles took to his Instagram account and posted a photo of his entrance captioned “The last one in Japan.”

Styles has stated in several recent interviews that he plans to retire from in-ring competition in 2026. He had a celebrated run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling from 2014 to 2016, where he led the Bullet Club faction and was a two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
