Jamie Malonzo and his Japan B.League team, Kyoto Hannaryz, have mutually agreed to part ways.
In a statement released Friday, Kyoto announced that it had mutually agreed to terminate Malonzo’s contract, and the Filipino forward will now be placed on the B.League free agent list.

The team explained that changes in the lineup were necessary as “the club continues to face challenges,” which led to the decision to end Malonzo’s stint.
“Jamie Malonzo is a wonderful person who has worked hard every day to adjust to his new environment. While this is a difficult decision, we appreciate your understanding,” read the translated statement from the team.
Kyoto also noted that it is currently in contract negotiations with a new naturalized or Asian player and will provide updates once the deal is finalized.
Malonzo signed with Kyoto Hannaryz in July.
