On the 17th, Lotte announced a change in the location of their training camp next spring. With the aim of strengthening the team, the first team will start their first training camp in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki. The second training camp will be held in Itoman, Okinawa. The second team will start their first training camp in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, and hold their second training camp in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki. Until this spring, the first team had been training camping in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa. Details of the training camp schedule, including holidays, will be announced in late November.
New manager Saburo, who is aiming to lift the team from the bottom of Pacific League this season, has predicted that this fall’s Miyakonojo camp will be “a Showa-era camp. I’ll do weight training first to get in shape, and then in the afternoon I’ll hit the ball, play defense, and run nonstop.” He will train mainly the younger players together with Tsuyoshi Nishioka, the newly appointed first-team chief hitting coach and base running coach, who was announced on the same day.
