The World Expo in Osaka, which attracted 28 million visitors over the past six months, has drawn to a close. The Czech Pavilion, a striking glass-and-wood structure showcasing Czech culture, design, and technology was honoured by the European Union for hospitality, receiving the Europa mascot award. It attracted over 1.5 million visitors.

Interest in relocating the pavilion remains high both in Japan and at home. The city of Hradec Králové has expressed intent to acquire and display the structure, estimating transport and reassembly costs at around 250 million crowns.
