Top 10 Things to Do in Osaka Japan | Osaka Travel Guide
I’m going to introduce 10 things you should do in Osaka. Osaka is second largest city after Tokyo and many foreign travelers visit Osaka. Usually they start traveling from Tokyo and Kyoto Saka or Osaka Kyoto and back to Tokyo and fly to their home country. That’s a very basic route and we call route. I always get a question like what should I do in Osaka? I’ve already done Guro sign takoyaki. What else? No worries. We are TJT Japan local guy. So please watch these videos if you’re a first- timer coming to Osaka or if you already been Osaka but you are thinking to come here again and want to explore more like hidden gym. Okay, here you go. First don’t worry everybody has to visit deep phrase. Look at this Greek sign. I think this is what every travelers imagine for Osaka and actually it has a great vibes. Let me introduce one funny story of this doi. There is a baseball team called punching tigers. As I mentioned, Osaka people are very friendly, very funny, at the same time very strong. So when the Hunching Tigers won the national tournament, the fans jump into this doi river. Listen, of course, it’s banned, but this is what doi is known for. Other than this uh Greeko sign, you can remember this funny story of doi and kukuru takoyaki is very, very delicious. As a local, this is my recommendation. Doburi is Osaka’s most vibrant food and nightlife street lined with theaters, restaurant, and the famous neon guro sign. It has been the city’s entertainment hub since the 17th century. Don’t miss Takoyaki at Kukuru serving extra large octopus balls that have been loved by locals and visitors since the 1980s. First place is do bori. Second, Henji temple. So this temple is right behind Doburi but not many people notice realize there is a serene temple like this. Hoen temple is very beautiful. You can feel peace. Henji temple tucked away in a quiet alley near the basling Namba area. Hoenji offers a peaceful retreat. Its most covered statue of Fudo Mio called Mizuk Fudo is unique. Visitors splash water on it while praying for good fortune. The charming corner feels like stepping back into old Osaka. Holding this temple is highly recommended. Third, American be. In this place, you can walk around and you can see many Japanese vintage crosses uh on this street. This place used to be uh they imported the crows from US. Uh they started selling in this place. So that’s why this place is called American Beirit. If you’re looking for some vintage goods, uh this is a place. And this American be has a little bit different vibes from doi more like energetic vibes you can feel. America or Amura grew out of the 1970s youth culture boom and remains Osaka’s creative playground. The area is packed with vintage shops, record stores, cafes, and colorful murals. It’s where local trends begin, making it a must for anyone wanting to experience Osaka’s street culture. So I highly recommend you to visit this American village to know the Osaka atmosphere. Of course, Shinsaiashi, it’s almost like connected to Doon Bori, but it’s a little bit different. So Shinsaiashi is a place more for shopping, right? There are many stores you can buy souvenirs and also famous nightclub located in this Shinsaiashi. It’s a perfect place for night out and shopping. Shinsashi is Osaka’s largest shopping arcade stretching over 600 meters and bustling with people from morning to night. Dating back to the 1600s as a merchant town, it now offers a mix of growabout brands, Japanese fashion, and souvenirs. It’s a city’s ultimate shopping street. So, this is Shinsai Bashi. Fifth, Chrom Market. This market has a long history. Uh many shops sell food and souvenirs. also not very far from doi where you come to do buri you can visit this chroma market at the same time what I recommend is talk to the staff as I mentioned Osaka people are very funny and friendly so if you try to speak Japanese and talk to them let me give you some tips to say Osaka dialect okini which means arato but more in Osaka dialect so when you say okini to a local people they’re super happy I’m also happy too so remember saying this okini to a local people. Kroma market nicknamed Osaka’s kitchen has served locals for nearly 200 years with over 150 stalls. It’s where chefs buy their ingredients and visitors fish on Wagyu beef sushi seafood skewers and seasonal fruits. The library atmosphere gives a real taste of Osaka’s food culture. Yeah, this is a chrom market. We are TJ team offering tours and experiences which make you immerse yourself into Japanese culture. This Osaka Castle has a amazing view from outside and from inside as well because when you buy the ticket and go inside and you can go upstairs and there is a museum inside the castle. So you can learn the history of Osaka Castle. So in front of Osaka Castle there is a shrine called Poku shrine. This shrine castle are close to each other. So you can go visit at the same time and you can learn the history. First built in 1583 by Toyotomy Hiroshi. Osaka Castle is one of Japan’s most famous landmarks. Although rebuilt several times, it remains a proud symbol of the city’s history. Visitors can explore the museum inside and enjoy the castle park which is especially popular during cherry blossom season. This is Osaka castle and seven Umeida. This place is the center of Osaka. Yeah, many of my friend working in Osaka. Um so this is a place for more like a office buildings but recently north part of Osaka station has been developed. So they have a kind of cozy cafe and cozy restaurant and also as well as this place is a grand flaunt Osaka. So this place is a very perfect for chill and you can feel the sophisticated atmosphere of Osaka. Um is Osaka’s business and entertainment center filled with skyscrapers, department stores and train stations all connected underground. The highlight is the Umeda sky building whose floating garden observatory offers sweeping view over the city and even Mount Ecom on the Korea day. Eight tema amazing isakaya tree. This TMA everybody dreaming of doing a bar hopping and going to several restaurant night out in Japan in a very authentic very local restaurant. If you go to TMA you drink with the locals talk to you very casually like Osaka style and you can enjoy food atmosphere everything. Tema is a nostalgic neighborhood known for Osaka Tagu shrine dedicated to the god of learning. Its market is one of Japan’s oldest and nalo alleys nearby transform at night into maze of cozy zakaya. It’s a perfect place to mingle with locals and sample authentic Osaka dishes. Remember this tma nine nambayasaka shrine. Look at this. This is very unique. Right. Right. Usually temples and shrines doesn’t have a shape like this. This shrine has a long history and funny interest stories behind. So I recommend you to go visit here and learn the history. Of course, take a picture with this beautiful lion. This is a must do when you come to Osaka. Nambayasaka shrine. Unlike any other shrine in Japan, Nambayyasaka is famous for its giant lion head stage. 12 m tall and 11 m wide. The lion’s open mouth is said to swallow evil spirits and bring victory in competitions or exams. It’s rare brand of tradition and bold design, perfect for photos. And the last one, Katogoji temple. Uh actually I already introduced this place I think around two to three years ago. This temples uh has full of dalmat totally different from usual temples shrine. Koja temple is a little bit far from Osaka city center. But if you have time in Osaka, I highly recommend you to visit this place because this place is only one and super unique. And the inside is not very small. You can walk around the temples and kind of you can explore and my recommendation is autumn season. See this red autumn leads so beautiful. If you come here you can do only one experience and also right next to this Katogi temple there is a waterfall. We call this Mino waterfall. It’s a great spot for tradition and nature same time. Katogi temple located in the mountains north of Osaka. Katogi temple was founded in 765 and is known as a temple of victory. The temple grounds are covered with thousands of daluma dolls offered by worshippers who achieved success in autumn. The scenery is breathtaking with vibrant red leaves surrounding the temple.
