Walking Through Kyoto: From Gion-Shijo to Yasaka Shrine via Pontocho and Takase River
I set out on a journey to Kansai to visit my family home in Kobe. Along the way, I plan to stop by various towns as I head west, and on the return trip, I’ll visit places that catch my interest while making my way back to the Tokyo area.
From Nara, I traveled north to Kyoto. It had been quite a while since I last walked around the city. I couldn’t decide whether to start from Kawaramachi Station or Kyoto Station, but in the end, I began my walk from Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Main Line.
I strolled along Pontocho Street and the Takase River, then continued along Shijo Street toward Yasaka Shrine. As expected, I saw many foreign tourists throughout the area.
