Japan Travel Tips π₯ Tokyo Asakusa Walk Tour
Not everything is good in Japan. Here are some travel traps to avoid in Japan. Most of the souvenirs from tourist attractions you can buy are not only expensive, but they are also mostly imported from a well-known country. You can possibly find the same items with cheaper prices on AliExpress. If you want to avoid to get ripped off, you can go to some small local artistic stores that are away from tourist attraction area. Most of them made items in Japan and they are not mass- prodduced. If you still insist to shop at the tourist attraction, you can check the items whether the items are made in Japan. How about eating in at restaurants? You can see many high-rated restaurants on Google, but sometimes these restaurants are overhyped and expensive. Some restaurants want to target on tourists and they buy reviews on Google. Some other restaurants offer free products for people in exchange or five-star ratings. If you want to eat like locals, you should use Tabalog. It’s because locals have a harsh realistic way to rate the restaurants. [Music]

that's useful info, going there next year to see cherry blossoms in the Kioto, hopefully I will be able to dodge the bullet's π
to simply the souvenirs stuff basically saying like who we in the US do things. shop locally. personally if i have a good friend in Japan id just ask them with it comes to the restaurants really. asking a local for a recommendation for an affordable restaurant. however knowing about Tabalog is super helpful! that way you don't have to bother a random person really!
I would like a Japanese hamburger please π π
I know this OP feelings, my buddy was buying all this tourist crap and I kept telling him you can buy this stuff back home
In Osaka, we found this old mans private shop off one of the main streets, old man was cool, we sat down and watched golf with him and he was selling 500 year old samurai gear and other old cool stuff, he was cool and let us take photos, nice man
The reason to buy a souvenir, is to remember that you visited that place, so is not the same buying them from AliExpress. Also for a tourist coming the first time is difficult to research for this kind of store you mention. Usually the tour bus will take you to Asakusa and everyone buys their souvenirs there.
Also I saw some videos of you saying donβt come to Japan, but in this videos you are encouraging tourists to come to Japan and to go to stores where tourists usually donβt go and still has Japanese complete identity.
YouTube be was the reason tourists started coming to Japan. The first time I went to Japan was 2006 and there was so few tourists and very few signs in English, now tourists are everywhere, the street in front of harajuku is imposible to walk, like a river of tourists.
Yep! Great info! Thank you!
Japan is a good country β€
One of the things that I worry about is alot of Japanese stuff has Shellfish and I have an allergy to Shellfish.
I also heard some places will have different prices for tourists because they are given menus in English.
