Only in Japan? Lost Items ALWAYS Come Back!

One wallet, a long type, nothing. Hi, I’m Hinako from Japan Dig. Have you ever forgotten something really important during a trip? I know it can ruin the mood, right? But don’t worry, Japan got amazing loss and fun system. Today, we’re going to show you what to do if you lose something here. Located right next to Mount Fuji, this massive outlet mall attracts a steady stream of foreign tourists daily, all eager for a shopping spree. The weak Japanese yen, among other factors, makes it incredibly appealing to buy popular brands for affordable prices. [Music] However, [Music] suddenly an announcement echoes through the building. May I have your attention, please? Please come to information center. A foreign visitor is being called to the information desk. Moments later, an Australian man rushes over looking incredibly flustered. Apparently, he has lost something very important. A staff member gives directions pointing toward the lost and found. Found it. Now we are here. This go area here. [Music] After hearing the direction, he headed and arrived at the lost and found. Behind the counter, a staff member hands him something. This man had, in fact, lost his credit card. So, is that your card? Yes, I’ll ask. Have a nice day. Thank you. Thank you everyone. With the card back in his hand, a smile finally returns to his face. So there I’ve budgeted for that card. So there’s no balance. So I could use all of it. If it had been misused, he might never have come back to Japan. [Music] Yes. Next, a woman from South Korea arrives at the information desk. [Music] [Music] She says she lost her wallet and the staff at the information center start to look a bit nervous. [Music] She says she lost her brand new wallet worth about 50,000 yen less than 20 minutes after buying it and her mind went completely blank. It was a brand new expensive wallet. Hoping for the best, she rushed to the lost and found counter. [Music] Will her luxury wallet be there? [Applause] How incredible. The wallet was there. She really got lucky. According to this shopping mall, lost item reports increase when the summer sales begin and more people visit than usual. Now, another problem pops up. A store employee is quickly walking around the bus stop holding a passport in his hand. It seems a foreign tourist forgot it in the store after shopping. Many tourists shop right up until the last minute before their bus leaves, often rushing and accidentally leaving things behind. Unfortunately, the owner of the passport could not be found that day. The next day, just afternoon, a mother and her son came into the information center. Passport. Yeah. Could they be the owners of that passport? The two rush to the lost and found counter. Hello. Check this passport. The staff presents the passport. It was found safe and sound. Thank you. They had been shopping right up until the last minute and got on the bus without realizing they’d left it behind. I can’t fly back to what? What a close call. Around 700 p.m. another mother and a child, this time from the Philippines came by. It’s getting dark and closing time is approaching. I lost and my husband lost this phone. Yeah, it’s an iPhone. Her husband has lost his smartphone. The staff contacts the department. However, I have other not the smartphone hadn’t been turned into the lost and found counter. Is there any CCTV that you can find there? We can CCTV, but we cannot see that camera. She clearly didn’t want to give up, but after checking how to report a lost item, she got ready to leave. We spoke with her. He lost his phone. Yes. Her husband had lost it earlier in the day when they briefly split up to do some shopping. No, it’s okay. It’s okay. Her husband, who was standing behind her, looked apologetic. As it got closer to closing time, they started heading back to their hotel. But just 3 minutes later, she suddenly came back. She rushed in trying hard to explain something to the staff. Oh my god. Because he has two phones. I thought it’s that I die phone. They said it’s the Samsung. It’s colored black. Her husband had two smartphones and she had mixed up which brand the lost one was. Okay. Your smartphone is the back is clear and this is the black. Yeah. And the photo is you’re going to the near the atone is here shopping near the one is yeah one okay that’s it. Yes I think your that’s it. She looked relieved that the phone was found. Luckily she got the smartphone back. This is life. Yeah this is it. But everyone, don’t forget the stories we shared today were all incredibly lucky. To make the most of your trip, always keep a close eye on your valuables.

  1. This is true. I lost my phone on a taxi but I got it back. The hotel manager himself made it a personal priority to get it back for me. This was in Osaka.

  2. Very True, it happened to me last year..I forgot my back pack which I put on the top of our seat, cause I'm holding our luggage in front of me, when my sister in law decided that we could get off one station before the Tokushige Sta. the last station of the Sakura-dori Line from Nagoya Sta. normal reaction was to get scared and nervous because all of my medications and some cash as well were in that bag. my sister in law could not say anything cause it never happened to them before. we waited for the next train and got off running fast and proceeded to the ticketing window at Tokushige sta. and my sister in law told them about it and the man called someone and told us to wait along the walkway, few seconds then another man from the other side came out holding my black backpack. I almost hug the man while telling me to check my bag first. naturally everything was intact. I thanked him and just uttered "this is Japan" eh. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
