Hakone Day Trip Itinerary
☀️Morning — Departure from Shinjuku
Take the Romancecar from Shinjuku around 10 AM. There are vending machines on board for drinks and snacks.
After about 1.5 hours, you’ll arrive at Hakone-Yumoto Station.
🚠Hakone Tozan Railway
From Hakone-Yumoto, transfer directly to the Hakone Tozan Railway.
It takes about 40 minutes to reach the last stop, Gora.
This is the steepest mountain railway in Japan. Highlights include three switchbacks and the scenic view from Hayakawa Bridge.
🍷Lunch in Gora
From Gora Station, walk 7 minutes to the famous steakhouse Nobu.
Enjoy sirloin steak, spiny lobster, garlic rice, and more — a truly satisfying meal.
🏊♀️Afternoon — Hakone Kowakien Yunessun
Return to Gora Station and take the free shuttle bus to Hakone Kowakien Yunessun, a spa resort where you can enjoy both pools and hot springs for about ¥4,000.
If you get hungry, grab ramen at the poolside food stall (open until 5 PM).
♨️Evening — Mori-no-Yu Onsen & Ice Cream
After soaking in the hot spring called Mori-no-Yu, treat yourself to a refreshing post-bath ice cream.
