Don’t Spend ¥28,000 Like We Did 😅 Cheapest Tokyo → Fuji Routes
Don’t pay over 20,000 yen to get to Mount Fuji. This was one of the biggest mistakes we made in Japan. We didn’t know we had to book tickets in advance. So, 3 days before our tour, we were running against the clock. Option one was the Fuji excursion express train from Shinjuku to Kaguchiko. It’s direct, fast, and only 5,000 yen per person, but it was sold out. Option two was the highway bus from Shibuya or Shinjuku. Budget friendly at around 2 to 3,000 yen, but also sold out. That’s when I booked through Navi Time. love them. But they charged over 28,000 yen for two roundtrip tickets that should have cost less than 10,000 yen. Jesus Christ. Here’s what we should have done. Book the JR Limited Express from Shinjuku to Atsuki for about 3,000 yen each. Then buy tickets for the Fujuko line at the station for under 1,500 yen per person. No seat reservation required. Just hop on. If you’re going to Japan, we hope this tip helps you out. Take a breath. Don’t book anything in a panic like we did. And follow us for more food and travel content.
Best options: Fuji Excursion (book early), Highway Bus (sells out), or the smart combo—JR Limited Express to Otsuki + Fujikyuko Line. Same views, way less yen.
