On top of the incredible sonic treat that Barbie Almalbis’s single ‘All U Wanna Do’ has shaped up to be, the stunning music video that pairs with the track proves to pack a punch with its amazing visuals and unique concept.

The video uses a guerilla-style theme that sees Barbie passionately performing the track at Tokyo’s famed Shibuya Crossing, as her emotions are transformed in a display of frustration, resilience, and artistry.

Directed and conceptualized by celebrated photographer and filmmaker Niña Sandejas, the video was created spontaneously when Niña and Barbie made a spur-of-the-moment artistic decision to embark on a creative adventure, while Barbie was invited to perform in Japan.

Niña gives a behind-the-scenes scoop on the process of creating the video as she shares, “Barbie sang full voice with only her earphones as a backing track, while strangers brushed past, stared, or bumped into her. The rain gave us only a brief pause to work, and we had a hard stop because she was headed straight to a gig that night.

Nina adds, “A few takes, a lot of faith, and a camera chasing her through the rush: that was all we had. Behind the lens, what struck me most wasn’t the crowd or the noise, but Barbie’s composure. Her dedication to bring to life each of her songs, giving the same devotion to a pop-up shoot on a rainy Tokyo street as she would to a stage.”

The video marks a full-circle moment for Barbie, as Niña reveals a hidden easter egg — the song ‘Runaway’ by Hungry Young Poets, the band Barbie once fronted, subtly woven into the sounds of traffic and Japanese voices.

With nothing but her earphones, a camera, a dream, and an incredibly dedicated team, the music video was brought to life — marking a huge milestone for Barbie.
