Klook partners with PlayStation to bring 1600s Japan setting of ‘Ghost of Yōtei’ to travellers

Japan – Klook has partnered with PlayStation to launch a curated travel experience in Hokkaido, bringing to life the setting of the upcoming ‘Ghost of Yōtei’ game for PlayStation 5.

The collaboration extends the game’s world—set in 1600s rural Japan—into the real landscapes of Hokkaido that inspired its design. Travellers will be able to visit the same locations explored by the game’s developers during their research trips.

The one-day Ghost of Yōtei Hokkaido Tour includes stops at Mount Yōtei, Lake Tōya & Onsen Street, Noboribetsu Date Jidai Mura, and Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley).

Klook said the initiative reflects the growing role of gaming in travel inspiration, alongside social media influence. Its Travel Pulse study found that 79% of millennials and Gen Z choose destinations they encounter online, while Klook data shows Hokkaido travel demand has grown 25% in the past year, with car rentals among the most booked products.

Marcus Yong, vice president of global marketing at Klook, said, “We’re always exploring new ways to push the boundaries of imagination in travel to create more meaningful and immersive adventures. With PlayStation, we’ve designed an original experience that lets fans journey straight from console to countryside, living the Ghost of Yotei story while uncovering the rich beauty and culture of Hokkaido.”

The Ghost of Yōtei Hokkaido Tour will be available exclusively on Klook for a limited time. To promote the collaboration, the company will work with its Kreator network of travel and gaming influencers across Asia.

‘Ghost of Yōtei’ will launch on PlayStation 5 on 2 October 2025.
