Nagato, Yamaguchi ! Hello! It’s Mori! Travel is a form of self-investment, so this time I’m bringing you a trip to Nagato, Yamaguchi! A hidden gem packed with ocean, hot springs, and breathtaking views—a treat for adults ! Be sure to take your time and watch it over and over again on the big screen! So, here you go! Located in northwest Yamaguchi Prefecture, Nagato City, nestled by the Sea of Japan, is a town of sea, hot springs, and poetic charm. Its population is just under 30,000 (2025 estimate). Nagato Yumoto Onsen, the central tourist destination, is said to have opened in the Muromachi period. With its walking paths and foot baths along the Otozure River and nighttime illuminations, it’s evolving into a “fun hot spring town to stay in.” The cuisine focuses on the bounty of the Sea of Japan. In the hot spring town, “bar-hopping” between cafes and bars also makes for a pleasant evening. We stayed at Hoshino Resorts Kai Nagato. The hotel’s setting along the river, the large public baths, and the open-air area feature kaiseki cuisine incorporating the pottery and design of the open-air areas make the stay itself a “sightseeing experience.” The high-quality charm of the hotel makes it a “sightseeing experience.” Another great advantage is being able to leave your car and enjoy a drink while touring the hot spring town. Access is easy: take a flight from Haneda to JAL. The flight from Haneda to Yamaguchi Ube takes about 1 hour 35-45 minutes, so you can easily arrive in the afternoon on the day, and dedicate your time to hot springs and sightseeing from the first day. From the airport to Nagato Yumoto, it takes about 1 hour 30 minutes by rental car. By train , transfer at Shin-Yamaguchi Station and transfer to the Mine Line, which takes about 1.5-2 hours. So , let’s enjoy a trip to Nagato for adults, immersing ourselves in the afterglow of the sea, hot springs, and fine wines ! I never expected my trip to Yamaguchi and Nagato to be like this ! Hello everyone ! It’s Mori! Travel is an investment in yourself. I’m currently at Itami Airport, and I was hoping to fly to Nagato in Yamaguchi via Haneda starting today. Unfortunately, the flight from Itami to Haneda has been canceled, so I can’t get to Yamaguchi! That’s the situation I’m in, but JAL has been doing all they can to help, so I’m thinking of taking the Shinkansen overland to Yamaguchi. Things like this happen, but it’s really reassuring. It’s reassuring that they’ll take measures even when something like this happens, so I’m hoping to go. I suddenly decided to take a bus to Shin-Osaka, and then take the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka. I think this is it… Of course, I’m concerned about what others think this time too.JR Shin-Osaka StationI’ve arrived at Shin-Osaka and will be changing to the Shinkansen from here. There will be quite a bit of time to change , so I want to make sure I leave plenty of time. There is also a 551 at Itami Airport and I was tempted, so I thought I might buy some here for lunch, but this is also a journey. But then I realized that this place specializes in chilled food. They have hot products available in the store outside the ticket gate, so I’ve already gone through the ticket gate… What a shame. So here I go.12 :41 I’m heading to Hakata.Shin -Osaka Station → Shin-Yamaguchi StationJR Shin- Yamaguchi StationSo, I’ve arrived at Shin-Yamaguchi.It ‘s about 30 minutes late, so I think I’ll be able to recover somehow. This is turning out to be an exciting trip.Today I’m staying at Kai Nagato, and I was planning to relax there, but as expected , Mori Channel makes things exciting like this.In return, I want to be able to relax at the hotel. From here , I would normally take the local train to the airport and rent a car from there, but this time they’re going to take me to the airport, so I’ll head there.Welcome to Nishinokyo. I took this video because I was heading to Yamaguchi . I also took videos of Yamaguchi City and Shimonoseki, so I’ve filmed quite a bit in Yamaguchi . It’s a city I love. Normally, I would get on the Ube Line here. I would get on the Ube Line and head there . Thank you. Yamaguchi Ube Airport . Yes, so Shin-Yamaguchi Airport? No, Ube Airport. And I’ll rent a car here. Yes, I rented a car. It’s already 3:21 pm, but I’m not sure if it would be a good idea to head straight to my accommodation, so I’d like to stop by one place on the way. On the way, there’s a super-classic spot like Akiyoshidai, right? It looks like Akiyoshido Cave . Well, that seems to be really popular with inbound tourists these days, and it’s not the tourist route , but a back route that takes 5 hours to walk. Well, if I did that, I’d never get there, so I won’t do it. I don’t think it ‘s a hidden gem, but it’s a place with a spectacular view that I’ve never been to, and it ‘s a nice sunny day so I’d like to go. Well, I’m off! Heading to the first spot, Beppu Benten Pond. Huh? There’s no parking lot. This place is crazy … I was lured in by the navigation system, but the parking lot was in a completely different place. It wasn’t playing in reverse, it was this way. There was an arrow there pointing left, so I just went that way, huh ? Is it really here? Where are you talking about? Is this the right place? Is this the parking lot at Fureai Hiroba ? Should I have gone a little further earlier? I’m not sure, but I think it’s fine to come here for now. I was suddenly approached by a viewer, and I’m grateful for their support! I’m so grateful. There were viewers from Yamaguchi too. I don’t know if they’re from Yamaguchi or not, but I wonder if there’s a spring here, like one of the 100 famous springs? Everyone’s brought all sorts of things. It seems like there’s a really beautiful view up ahead, and I want to go see it. Let’s go! Wow ! This is beautiful. Amazing . Wow! Beautiful! The water is so clear, and the reflection is so beautiful too. This is amazing! It’s amazing . Wow, amazing, and this moss is amazing! So beautiful. I think that’s probably the main attraction. The pond here seems really beautiful. It’s right here . Wow! Amazing! The blue is amazing, isn’t it? This is amazing ! Beautiful This is beautiful, it’s amazing , there’s a place like this, I ‘m glad I stopped by , it’s amazing, wow , cars can go through here , seriously? About Beppu Benten Pond, I looked it up on ChatGPT and found out that it is a mysterious pond known for its beautiful spring water. Its distinctive cobalt blue water is especially beautiful and clear on sunny days. The water is so clear that you can clearly see the bottom of the pond, and the surrounding area has a quiet and sacred atmosphere, making it a popular power spot. Near the pond is Benzaiten Shrine, where the god of water is enshrined. Many people take the water from the pond home as it is considered a famous spring, and there is also the Beppu Benten Pond Spring Water Museum nearby. It is a popular spot for photography enthusiasts, and you can enjoy the scenery and contrast of the four seasons. Benten Pond is one of Japan’s 100 famous water sources, and it is said here (the old kanji for “denwareru” is used) that 186 liters of water per second, or 11 tonnes per minute, gushes out. Legend has it that long ago, someone developed this region, but was short of water , so they prayed to Suwa Daimyojin, where they received a revelation that said, “Worship Benzaiten and ask for water with a green bamboo walking stick.” Soon after, pure water was discovered, and this pond was named Benten Pond. Now this water is said to be drinking water…but there are so many kanji I can’t read. It is used for irrigation and fish farms. It is said that drinking this water will maintain longevity and bring you wealth. There’s no choice but to drink it. No E. coli has been detected. It’s amazing! There are also things like this. Emerald green water continuously gushing out from the bottom of the pond. It springs from there, and the water looks emerald green. It’s thought that this is due to the nature of the light and the minerals dissolved in the water, but the reason for this is still unknown. Also, the red color of the stones you see at the bottom of the pond isn’t rust or dirt, but a type of algae called Benimadara growing on the surface of the stones. Benimadara can only grow in the shade of the clear stream, and the freshwater species in particular are designated as a near-threatened species by the Ministry of the Environment. It’s amazing how little we know about it . It’s Itsukushima Shrine ⭕️ : It seems to be a place related to that place on Miyajima Island in Itsukushima Shrine . Itsukushima Shrine was founded as a Benzaiten shrine between 806 and 810 and was renamed in 1871 when three water gods were enshrined from Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima Prefecture . The Beppu Nembutsu Dance has long been held as a ritual at Itsukushima Shrine. This is great, it ‘s all written in hiragana . It’s very different from the sign we saw earlier. This tree is also amazing. It must have power. But it’s strange, is water always bubbling up here? There are such strange things. I also subscribed to your channel. I wonder if it’s bubbling up from the bottom. I have no choice but to drink the water . There are fish swimming around. I want to go snorkeling here, but I’m sure I’ll get in trouble if I do. I wonder if I should add water after the miso soup I drank on the Shinkansen . Let’s eat this. This will bring me longevity and wealth. Ah! Delicious! It has a subtle, juicy flavor, and now it’s perfect! Now we’re ready, let ‘s head to the inn . Kai Nagato. At the end of the hall is the large public bath. If you turn left, you ‘ll come to a building called the Travel Library, which offers coffee, tea, sweets, and books. It’s open 24 hours a day, so… Right now, you can see the roof of the riverbank through the gap in the roof. Just below this is the Akebono Gate, and if you go through this, you can easily enter and exit the hot spring town. The upper part is made of Hagi glass, and the patterns of the cut Hagi glass vary depending on the room, so I’ll take a photo of room 112. This room is called the Nagato Gosai no Ma, and has five rooms. There seem to be five elements, including traditional crafts from Yamaguchi Prefecture, that decorate the guest rooms. First of all, this is one of them . It may be a little hard to understand , but it is called Hagi glass. This is the first element that is used. And we would like to enter from here . It looks like this. And then, as you enter the entrance, there is the second thing. Just looking at the entrance doesn’t make much of an impact, but if you look over here, there is an impactful lock. This is also a traditional craft. This is Ouchi lacquerware. Ouchi lacquerware is a traditional craft from Yamaguchi Prefecture that is characterized by its elegant patterns . The pair of dolls, which are said to be a symbol of marital harmony, are beautiful. It features lacquer and gold leaf painting, which is said to represent a figure from behind. It is nicely lit from above , making for a beautiful entrance. Now, let’s go inside. There is a mirror, and as you enter, there are wonderful curtains. They are actually closed, but I decided to open them , as it is wonderful to see the beautiful garden with its fresh greenery. This place is also… First, let me introduce these five pieces of washi paper. The paper used in the background is also called Tokuji washi, which has been around for over 800 years since the Muromachi period, and has been designated an intangible cultural property of Yamaguchi City. Currently, only a few pieces remain, and this precious washi paper has been designated an intangible cultural property of Yamaguchi City . It’s on the wall. Hoshino Resorts’ idea of preserving tradition is wonderful. And here is Hagi ware. I would like to go and see this at a later date, but this is Hagi ware. In the alcove with its staggered shelves, there are Hagi ware pieces by three artists from Fukagawa Kiln, which is close to Nagato Yumoto Onsen . And there’s one more thing. The view from the window changes with the seasons. From the guest room window, you can see cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, and autumn leaves in autumn. All five of these changes are expressed. So let’s take a look. Sorry to have kept you waiting , but suddenly, you can sleep here too. There’s a sofa. As expected, it looks like even in this world two people can sleep here. You can sleep in an L-shape with your heads together . It looks like it could fit two people, no, maybe four if you try hard. There is a table and something hidden behind it. There seems to be a TV behind it. You can surely watch Mori Channel . And then there is the bed. It looks like a comfortable bed and it has a Japanese feel to it. And behind it you can sleep in front of the washi paper that I mentioned earlier, which has been designated an intangible cultural property. And over here at the back is a study space where you can work. You can work here, which is great. And if you open it over here you can find the hotel wear, and there is a security box and hangers as well. And next to the bed you can adjust various things by the pillow and there is a power outlet too . Let’s take a look at the back. You can sleep here too, right? 。 English : It’s a little far away, but you can stretch out your legs while you sleep. There’s a sofa, too. It’s arranged diagonally, which is a rare sight. You can sleep while looking at the fresh greenery. I think it will probably be autumn/winter by the time this video comes out, so you’ll probably be able to see the autumn leaves. You can go in any season. Some people watch this video in early autumn, some in summer, and some in spring, but it goes to show you a wonderful view no matter what season you go . The garden is also wonderful. Shall we try opening it ? I don’t know how to open it ? What’s going on? It seriously won’t open, it happens every time! What’s this, how do you open it? Huh? The other side is the same ! It opens easily on this side, huh ? What about this side? Let’s try again ! It opens easily, what’s going on ? Here it is, this one ! The air is so clean , it’s the best, the air is so clean, I can hear the birds. There’s a kettle here, and inside here are various glasses . I wonder if this is made from special Hagi ware, etc. I said they also have local tea. And when I go to Kai, they often have this. Steamed ginger tea. I thought it might be a bath additive somewhere, but it’s not! It’s ginger tea. And hidden underneath is a refrigerator, which contains water, Tokimeku Koji, Nagato Yuzuki-kun, and Heartland Beer. These are charged separately. There is a fee like this, but it’s not that expensive. There is nothing on the other side . So, just the room feels quite filling, but here comes the main event! Open here ! The sink . No, not that , it’s at the back. There ‘s an open-air bath in the guest room ! What’s more, you can stretch out your super-sized legs, and the reflection of the fresh green maple leaves is so beautiful , it’s amazing, the view when you go in is just amazing, it ‘s amazing, and then we came back and there’s this amazing sink, everything is there without you having to touch each and every thing , Kai’s facial soap, cleanser, lotion, emulsion, body lotion, hand soap, everything is there, there are cups too, and what’s unique about the Kai series is that the amenities are stored in a furoshiki cloth, and when you open it you’ll find toothbrushes and other things inside, I’ll take a picture of it opened later, and you can take the furoshiki home with you, it looks like this, there’s also a hair dryer and a mirror, and then there’s the shower room at the back , there’s a shower room where you can wash your body properly and then go in as is, there’s also the large public bath, you can go to the large public bath, but you can also spend the best time here, you might be wondering what the Wi-Fi speed is like, it’s good, 69Mbps , I just got 100Mbps, this is more than enough for work, see, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes… but it does seem to go down in the end, but it’s more than enough, with this much I can do work on YouTube, and for normal work it’s more than enough! I can even watch YouTube with ease! Thankfully … and the toilet is spacious! Stylish! Clean! Ah, it’s the best ! It feels so slippery, it’s the best! My flight got canceled today, so I had to take the Shinkansen, so I’m super tired, right? Well, that fatigue has been wiped away, and I have dinner after this. I wasn’t planning on washing my hair, but I accidentally used the rain shower instead, and it’s all soaked now . This will soothe those mistakes. Adult ink play . In the old days, without these four tools, you couldn’t write or draw, and the inkstone was a must-have, but as you use it, it wears out… ever since I was in elementary school… The phrase “The Four Treasures of the Study” refers to the four tools indispensable for writing calligraphy. The first is the brush, then the ink, then the inkstone , and finally, paper. These four are, and in particular, this Akama inkstone. In Yamaguchi Prefecture, it was used by successive feudal lords of the Mori (Choshu) clan … Is that me?! The raw material for Akama inkstone is a stone called Akama stone . I’d like you all to grind some ink using this Akama inkstone. Damn! I put in too much, or maybe I put too much on the flat part… I went too far. I’m left-handed, so everything is backwards. That brings back memories. I think the dark ink should be ready by now, but… I’m left-handed, so calligraphy was my worst subject of all. What do you think? I don’t know if I should write with my right or my left…But before that, I’d like you all to take a deep breath to calm yourself down. Seriously, of all my subjects, calligraphy is the one I did really badly in. I’m left-handed, so when I was told to write with my right, I couldn’t use my right hand, so I got like a 3 out of 10. Ever since then, I’ve felt a contradiction in the world. Maybe I should try writing with my left hand. Wouldn’t that be better? I’ve already decided what words to write, but I had a professional calligrapher write this for me. I’m not a professional, I’m just terrible at it, so how can I do it? I’ll try writing it with my left hand. I don’t even know what kanji the words “Travel is self-investment” are. I saw it on a T-shirt page. Everyone is so quiet it’s hard to speak. I’ll try to imitate them. It’s my first time writing with my left hand, but I wonder if I can do it if I imitate. I wonder if I can do it if I copy. I wonder if I’ll ever feel this helpless again . This is also making me realize something . This is my limit ! Let’s go for the real thing ! I have a feeling I ‘m going to mess it up. The place where I write is changing, so what should I do… I wonder what kind of layout I should use. I’m not really writing, I ‘m copying. Right now, no… it’s not quite right. Oh no. Haha. I guess I have to face my weaknesses. It’s almost like I’m doing calligraphy, or rather, I’m writing with the feeling of drawing a picture . Done! This is a 3 out of 10, the way of life of a man. This is my work! It turned out better than I thought. I wrote it while looking at something. It’s important. Imitating teaches you things like that. It teaches you things like that. Travel is truly a self-investment. I can’t quite speak out loud. Travel is truly a self-investment! The dinner menu is also packed with options so I’m looking forward to it. There will be a sake tasting and, as it is a Nagato drink, I ordered the 365+1 beer first. It will be served in a Sanrokuroku bottle, but it is made here. There is also something called Onyu Highball. Yamaguchi has a lot of alcohol, a lot. I wonder how much I can drink ! There is even sparkling sake ! 。 English : We have everything from Toyobijin sake to Junmai Daiginjo sake and sparkling wine. We also have white wine, red wine, shochu, spirits, beer , of course, various fruit liquors, non-alcoholic drinks, and of course soft drinks. Kai’s facilities are spread throughout hot spring resorts across the country, and each offers seasonal appetizers that incorporate the local culture. We have a dish called Nichoku-ae squid, and as the port of Senzaki in Nagato is very popular for squid fishing, we have prepared a dish depicting the port. The round part in the middle is shiso leaf and squid, and below that is squid ink. Now, let’s eat. So much has happened today, and I also had to practice calligraphy… 366 (365 + 1)… 366 days. Let’s eat ! It’s not quite… the bitterness is just right, but it’s also fruity, and you can enjoy the rich aroma under the clear blue sky. That ‘s what I wrote, but oh! It’s interesting, it’s definitely beer, but it’s not like beer. And as an appetizer, squid is famous, with squid and sea urchin… This suddenly makes me want to go for sake. I wonder if it’s a play on the ink used in calligraphy because it was the first thing they did ? Probably not ! Harada… I feel like I’ve had Ganki Ganki before, but I don’t think I’ve heard much about Harada. This is also a local drink, but the locals like it , so I recommend that one. The bowl is clam mashed potatoes . It’s served with fava bean tempura and wakame seaweed, so please enjoy it while it’s warm. Thank you for the clam mashed potatoes. I really don’t think I would have come across this if I hadn’t done this YouTube channel, and I probably would never have experienced it. It’s delicious ! So refreshing ! This is delicious! The beans are also delicious. This meal is presented in a Horaku-mori style. The eye-catching, bottomless tub is a symbol of the guest’s bright future. The round ornament inside the tub is the same as the one on the bedboard in the room, made with Tokuji Washi paper, an intangible cultural property of Yamaguchi Prefecture. Each piece has a unique pattern. The sashimi of the day on the right side of the tub is sea bream, yellowtail amberjack, and swordtip squid. The other dishes on the tub are made with seasonal ingredients, ranging from hassun (a small appetizer) to vinegared dishes. Please compare your meal with the menu at hand. The sake cup and sake bottle are made with Hagi glass, a craft of Hagi , and feature a distinctive pale green color. This is Harada, a sake brewery in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Amazing ! The tub has no bottom. Is this also an Important Cultural Property? No… Tokuji Washi paper is an Intangible Cultural Property. May the future bring brighter prospects. I hope YouTube’s visibility improves too. It’s been flat for a while, but I want it to break through now. I want it to break through like this. If I put it here, I can see that you’re eating it… it’s a bit tricky. Usually it’s like this… I wouldn’t move it, but can I move it this time? This is special. Let’s put this instead, but I still can’t see it. No, I can’t see this either! Let’s start with the sashimi. We’ll eat the sashimi and have some appetizers . We ‘ll have some sashimi and drink some sake. Let’s start with the sea bream. It’s soft and delicious , the sake is delicious ! As expected from Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi is really good, both seafood and mountain produce are delicious, and the sake is also delicious. Yellowtail. Yellowtail is delicious! I’ve had it in Nagasaki and eaten it too, it’s delicious! The sake is gone in a flash, this squid is also famous ! Damn, this is too good . Mozuku vinegar . Mozuku is also good . Junsai and Junsai are also good. It’s gone in a flash . I told you to compare various things and try them, but you didn’t read any of it. Sea bream kelp-cured sushi roll. Mmm, so delicious! This is… deep-fried sesame tofu. It’s shrimp yolk sushi, with the shrimp wrapped in the yolk! It’s a masterpiece that you’ll want to savor each egg ! It’s deep-fried, with a four-color fried whitebait, fried chicken mochi, and vegetables like pearl onions and snap peas . You can eat all of this as is, but if you prefer, you can dip them in the salted lemon sauce that’s on the front right. Let’s eat! Omine snap peas, three pieces. This design isn’t new to me … Three pieces, if you polish it up, it becomes two pieces for Junmai Daiginjo. It’s interesting . Haven’t I tried it yet? I feel like it’s somewhere, but I don’t know. I drink sake from all over the world, so I tried it. Fruity! Sweet! This is good too! Ah! It’s new , and I can definitely see why it won the Grand Prix. If I were the one rating sake, when I drank it, I’d feel like, “That’s it!” I see! Like, ” Everyone’s heading in this direction, but here I am!” I want Mori Channel to be like that too. Even if you’re always moving in the same direction as everyone else, you still have to fight in the end, don’t you? I choose to live a life where I don’t fight. I only fight with myself! Everyone does it too, comparing themselves to other people and thinking that they’re great, right? No, it’s okay to just face your past self. You just have to fight with yourself in a place where you don’t have to fight . Travel is an investment in yourself! This isn’t simply sweet. I’m sure if I had to describe it in one word it’s sweet, but that’s not what it is. Mori Channel might also be described in one word as interesting, but that’s not what it is, is it? It’s the same. It’s sweet, but with a deep onion flavor… I’ll try it with a little onion, salt, and lemon, it goes well together . This is also really delicious. It’s certainly sweet, but quite fruity, isn’t it? It’s not an unpleasant sweetness, and after much thought, I decided on this direction. When you go to a sake brewery, you can pair it with French or Italian food… It can be paired with food other than Japanese food, and it’s certainly interesting . The design doesn’t look like sake, either. It’s interesting, as you’d expect from Yamaguchi. It’s ranked about 45th in the prefectures people want to visit . Is that really true? English : But I really love places like that. There are other people who would recommend the top places, even if it’s not me, so Yamaguchi is a really great place, isn’t it? The food is delicious, the sea is beautiful, there are mountains, and it has history. But it’s hard to get to. I’m in Kansai, so it’s fine because I can still get there by plane or whatever, but for people from Kanto, it’s surprisingly difficult to choose. Surprisingly, many people in Kanto can’t drive , so is there really no other way to get around here than by car? There are direct buses… Are there buses? I see, there are buses. It’s a hidden gem . I’m looking forward to walking around the hot spring town for the first time tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to it . The fireflies are out, so I’d love to see them . Ah, that’s right, it’s around this time, you can see the fireflies too . However, by the time this video is released, the firefly season will be over. The kudzu yosemite of peas and chicken meatballs is surrounded by chicken bone sauce, so please mix it together and enjoy it. Now, let’s eat the kudzu yosemite. This is Toyo Bijin Ichiban Matoi. It’s completely different! The package is based on Yamaguchi Prefecture’s local dish, Kawara Soba, and features pufferfish and chicken grilled on a tile. The chicken is Choshu chicken, and it’s seasoned with pufferfish fish sauce. The chicken in the foreground is local tiger pufferfish, and it’s topped with green onion sauce, so you can eat it as is. There are three condiments, from the left is sudachi. Depending on the season, we may also use yuzukichi, a local citrus fruit, but since the season is from the end of summer to winter, we’re currently using sudachi. The middle is yuzukichi pepper, which we think goes well with chicken, so please add whatever you like and enjoy. The one on the far right is local salt from a farmer. When the edges start to turn a little white, it’s ready to eat, so please enjoy it when that happens. Oh my, oh my, while we’re talking, this is pufferfish. I feel like Yamaguchi should refrain from promoting pufferfish. Fugu is delicious, but there are plenty of other tasty options too, like Choshu chicken ! It’s called fugu ne fuku here… hmmmm!! I guess I should definitely recommend fugu, but Yamaguchi isn’t the place where fugu is caught the most, it’s the place where it’s concentrated. Back then, there wasn’t anyone who could prepare fugu, so they went to Shimonoseki. Everyone who caught fugu would bring it there, so Yamaguchi became the best place for fugu, but in terms of where you can catch fugu, places like Nanao near Noto are better . It’s a learning experience. I’ve been to a lot of places myself, so it’s not Nanao, but Noto’s Choshu chicken , like Choshu power. Let’s have it with Hyakushoan salt. Do you remember Hyakushoan? Are you watching me? Hyakushoan has become a YouTuber! English: Maybe I should have grilled the chicken a little more. The fugu is apparently ready to be eaten raw, so I’ll try that with yuzukichi pepper. No, it’s best as is . They say yuzukichi goes well with chicken. I’m so forgetful I want to quit. I forgot my haiku. Toyobijin and my favorite sake is actually Toyobijin, and apparently this is the highest quality one. Toyobijin is the best. It has just the right amount of sweetness and a nice crispness, and the aftertaste is so well balanced. I really love it. I like this sake called Toyobijin. If I say I like Toyobijin, you might get the wrong idea, but it’s a sake with just the right amount of sweetness and a nice crispness that isn’t too strong. It’s the best. I wanted to drink fin sake, but they’re closed from September to March and now it’s May , so it’s a shame. I like fin sake, I’d like to buy some online. If I go to a roadside station or something, do they sell Senza Kitchen ? That’s great, it comes with a container, I like fin sake, I think it’s almost ready, the pickles are myoga gofumori, daikon radish and pickled whitebait , rice made with pufferfish skin and plum broth, seasoned on top, sprinkled with joshinko flour and deep fried, it ‘s pufferfish skin, pufferfish skin rice is cooked in pufferfish broth, pufferfish skin, I feel like I’m the only one who’s late… everyone’s done, let’s all go see the fireflies, ah! Delicious! The skin and sweetness go well together, it’s Awayuki cheese, summer mandarins, a specialty of Yamaguchi Prefecture, please enjoy it with the subtle sweetness and bitterness, it’s made in a place called Yuya, and herbs are the main ingredient, and it’s 100% from Nagato… can I drink it? Of course, Aomai (Orb), it’s like Dragon Quest, it’s written as Aoimai, but it’s actually Orb… gin, herbs from around here? : Speaking of ginjin made with herbs, there was Fukue Island GOTOJIN, and it was delicious. It was refreshing and had a great herbal scent. It certainly would go well with the final dessert . Yamaguchi is famous for its summer mandarins, which is why the guardrails are orange and so on. Yamaguchi is a town with many politicians, including Mr. Abe, so the roads are clean. I won’t go into the details of why, but when I thought it was just ice cream, it was super fluffy and cheesey… this is delicious, it’s a fluffy, grown-up dessert, it seems like it would go well with gin, orbs go well with it . Speaking of orbs like in Dragon Quest, it looks like it’s going to fly away, after all it’s an orb, does anyone know what that means? On my trip to Yanbaru I met Shimomura, who makes music for that game, and he said his favorite music was Ramia’s song, so it makes sense with Ramia collecting Dragon Quest orbs and taking off. That may be a bit of a stretch, but it reminds me of a lot of different videos. Thank you for the meal. I can take this with me, I’ll take it. I’ll light it up as I go . Wow ! But it’s already almost 10pm so I don’t think the fireflies will come out at this time, maybe tomorrow. I feel like there might be time to see them tomorrow… but when I go downstairs, I can’t see them at this time, ah! Or maybe it’s just my imagination or maybe it’s on this side? 。 Good to be able to take a walk like this. It rained yesterday so the water is pretty strong, but there are probably some around here… but it’s dark, so of course there aren’t any fireflies around at 10pm. It’s better to go a little earlier . It’s 10pm now and not a single person is out. It’s a hidden gem, open 24 hours. You can also use the lounge-like area, so you can really just relax by yourself, take a walk, think about things like this, and take a break in the lounge. I’m really happy that this place is open 24 hours a day . It’s rare to find something that’s open 24 hours a day. Good morning, day 2 of my trip to Yamaguchi and Nagato. It’s 9am now, so I’ll head in for a late breakfast. It’s a beautiful sunny day today, so you can enjoy breakfast while looking at the fresh greenery. Now , for today’s breakfast, we have overnight dried horse mackerel. Next to the tub, we have some rice accompaniments, including Kai ‘s original beef shigure, kelp plum, and Nagato city’s famous kamaboko . Please check the menu and the small blue bowl in front of you . Homemade tofu. Please enjoy it with the farmer’s salt that is provided on the table. In the small red bowl, we have homemade yogurt with yuzu jam . Also, in the white lidded dish, we have squid shumai sprinkled with amber sugar, so please enjoy it while it’s still warm. Rice and tea are provided, and we can also prepare them in a rice cooker in advance. Would you like to do that? This miso soup is made with Tokuji miso, a popular variety in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Add yuzu pepper and akamoku seaweed to your liking and enjoy the different flavors. Akamoku is a highly nutritious seaweed characterized by its stickiness. The akamoku container and rice container are made of Hagi ware . This yuzu container contains fresh pickled daikon radish and summer mandarin oranges. Please use this yuzu plate as a side dish . Enjoy your meal ! This is a luxurious morning. This is the true joy of staying at an inn. The miso soup is also amazing. They say they use Tokuji miso. It looks delicious! Each ingredient has a strong presence . Honestly, I would have been happy with just this miso soup and rice. It’s also quite filling. You can add as many bowls as you like , and the amount of miso soup is enough for two people. Now, where should we start with the squid shumai? Shall we start with the squid shumai? Delicious ! Rice accompaniments The rice is amazing! The rice accompaniments are the best Today’s grilled fish is Hajikami (young grunt) I’m smiling I made homemade tofu with Hyakushoan salt One side is tofu and the other is yogurt so someone like me could probably get it mixed up Also… I wonder if it’s kiwi sauce on top of the yogurt⭕️Yuzukichi jamIt has green stuff on top so if you mistake this for seaweed or something, you have to be careful because this one is tofu They look exactly the same so let’s go with salt ! Wow! Amazing! For a moment I thought maybe I made a mistake? For a moment it was like I’d put in yogurt It was soft , like yogurt but with a tofu feel So I’ll enjoy my breakfast rice accompaniment and then enjoy the rest Excuse me, hold on a sec… I wanted to try Akamutsu⭕️Akamoku I’m going to review this much I said Akamutsu earlier but that ‘s a high-class fish It was Akamoku That was a close call People who watched my video here were about to complain I heard you can eat Akamutsu! It’s Akamoku! Generally, firing in the Kyushu kilns started around the same time, when Toyotomi Hideyoshi sent troops from the Korean Peninsula and many craftsmen came over to Japan and started in each area. This generally involved the introduction of the technique of applying glaze and firing, so the piece is ready once the glaze has melted and the clay has baked to a certain extent, so it takes about 35 to 36 hours, starting in the morning and firing until the evening of the following day. If there are a lot of long climbing kilns connected together, it will take that long, but did it take longer before glazes were used ? Some people say that pottery made in Hagi, like Bizen ware from Okayama or Shigaraki ware from Shiga, is made by firing only the clay without applying any glaze. Some people say that they fire it for 10 days or 2 weeks, but what are the characteristics of the pottery made here? Hagi was more of a hobby for feudal lords, so it seems that they started making pottery that could be used in the world of tea ceremony. But as you use it, the tea and other things gradually soak into the bowl, and the user can enjoy the changes in the tea bowl they are using, and one of its major characteristics is that it has a history engraved into it. The color changes. It seems that in the past, there were about 10 pottery shops in this valley, and they fired in long, climbing kilns like this, connected together . At that time, craftsmen only had to make what they were told to make. It wasn’t until the Meiji era that they had to sell what they made themselves. So individual kilns… they only started owning them in the Meiji era, and since then they have been making a variety of things. It’s the season for young leaves, so it’s very… it’s so beautiful . The water is also beautiful, isn’t it? Is that related? Pottery is fired here with flowing water . Water, firewood, and clay are all necessary. What about water? What is water for? First, you take clay from the mountains, dissolve it in water, stir it, and leave it. The sand settles. You collect the muddy water on top and turn it into clay. Is it important ? Once the sand is removed, clean clay is created . Once the clay reaches the right hardness, you can start making pottery. The potter’s wheel also needs water. You can’t shape it without water, so water is essential. It’s hard to find clay that’s suitable for pottery, so it varies from place to place . So pottery usually begins wherever there is water . But in Hagi, it was a feudal lord’s hobby, and good clay was only found about 50 kilometers away. It’s so peaceful, and so relaxing! Nagato Yumoto Onsen is located in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is the oldest hot spring resort in Yamaguchi Prefecture with a history of about 600 years. The hot spring town that stretches along the Otozure River was recently renovated. It seems that Hoshino Resorts was probably involved in the renovation. This hot spring town, which is attracting attention as an attractive tourist destination that combines tradition and modernity, is known for its charm and highlight: Onyu, a symbol of Nagato Yumoto Onsen and a rare drop-in bath built directly above the spring source. I’d like to go there. Renovated in 2020, it features a wooden one-story building and hot spring water that gushes out from the bedrock. The water is alkaline, a simple hot spring, and is popular as a beauty bath that makes your skin smooth . This kind of thing is nice, I think I’ll go down there and see the fireflies, and they’ll be lit up. I couldn’t see them yesterday, but I’d like to visit the Ozure River today at a time when they can be seen. Wow, it’s nice, you can feel like you’re at a waterfall. Taking a bath in the hot spring or just staying in your room is nice, but I think a walk around the town is a must. It feels so good ! Wow! Amazing! It’s a mystery of nature, the sounds are so pleasant, it’s almost scary, I wonder if the water level is rising now, will this place still be built? Just walking around is so pleasant , I don’t know what it was like before the renovation, so it’s nice that there are old parts and new parts too ! Maybe this is Onyu, or maybe not. You can rent bicycles here, and this is Kiyoseibashi Bridge, which also has a retro feel ! That place is also beautiful , the water is rising now and it looks like garbage is being washed away, but that’s also the natural state of things. A person who looked like he must be over 100 years old drove the car, and it really is that kind of place… Ah! This place is also wonderful, it’s new! This, this, I wonder if this is Onyu , this place, Onyu. The outside has been really cleaned, but the vending machine inside that looks like a ticket is retro, this is interesting , the inside is amazing too, I’d like to go back later, it’s really nice, this place has been really cleaned, wow, amazing! What is this, wow, this place is also beautifully made, is there a shrine-like thing where that flag is? Let’s go and check it out, Sumiyoshi Shrine, it says something like Jizo Daibosatsu, so I’ll go up… What! You’re kidding me, it ‘s something like this again!? Ah, I have to go… How many times have there been places like this? But this one must have history too, I hadn’t heard of this, I was supposed to just take a leisurely stroll around the town and enjoy the hot springs, but oh no! There’s more like this , and looking down from above, it’s also amazing , let’s climb a little, let’s go further , are we done yet? It was easier than Iejima Tatsuchu , nice , it looks like you can get off from here too, it’s truly amazing, nature itself , there’s also this one over here, there’s just a parking lot at the top, isn’t it? It ‘s beautifully made, but looking at it on Google Maps, it says bamboo forest stairs, and above here it’s all parking, so there’s no point in going to the parking lot, like the shrine from earlier… It ‘s not listed anywhere, is it Sumiyoshi Shrine? This area is really beautiful too , like this, there’s a beautiful map so it’s easy to understand, the top of the bamboo forest stairs is a parking lot, and there seems to be a place to sit and enjoy the view, though Right in front of this is Otozuredo, and it says it’s a souvenir shop, but it’s actually closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays , and Thursdays. No way, closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays . Wow… today is Tuesday, so I can’t see if it’s open this time . Here are the Reiyu Spring Sources. There are two spring sources, Onyu and Reiyu, which are the source waters of Nagato Yumoto Onsen. Reiyu has a sign that says “No Laypeople Allowed” and is for samurai and monks, while Onyu is for the general public, and they were once used separately. What’s going on now? Is it still there? English: I’m not sure if this stone in Onyu is something or other , but even though it’s so new, there are still people who lived there for a long time , so it really does feel like a remote island, or rather, a hidden gem. It ‘s been renovated so much, but it ‘s currently a weekday, so there are very few people there , it’s not an exaggeration to say that there’s no one there , it’s almost empty, which is great, the locals are mostly old guys and gals, and the town attendant is also there, it’s amazing, it’s a mix of really retro and really new places, and it’s really worth seeing, I think there are tourist spots in Japan that are actually great but are gradually declining , it could be a model, it would be great if this could really attract more tourists, I hope my videos can be a part of that, I ‘m the type of person who tends to go to places that aren’t that popular yet , so I often come across places like this that are completely empty, but I’ve actually heard stories of it being crowded after I’ve been there, so it’s great! Miyuki Beauty Salon, no, even if I make a thumbnail here to make it look like there’s no one there , there really is no one there, right in front of me is such a beautiful view but there’s no one there, listening to the sound of the water, I understand that you’d think , no, I don’t want to lose this place, I want to preserve it, this is beautiful too, it’s nice just to look at it, and we were blessed with good weather, this bridge is beautiful too, even though it’s a babbling brook bridge , it’s a river so it’s nice when it’s calm but when the water level rises it can be dangerous, so it’s two sides of the same coin, people who seem calm can suddenly lose their temper and become scary, is this Nagato Onsen the right place for me? It’s beautiful when it’s calm, and even those who think it’s beautiful can suddenly become stormy. It’s the same thing. Nature is so beautiful, the clarity of the water is amazing, it’s so soothing. I’ve already let go of the fact that my flight was cancelled yesterday. Everything… it’s like you don’t want to hold on to the pain forever and just let it go . I’m sure you’ve all been there, worrying about things like, I should have done this at that time, or why it happened like that , you just let it all go. If you forget, it’s like it never happened. But please don’t let go of Mori Channel, please. As I walk, I get hungry, and there’s a great restaurant that’s just right for when you feel hungry. I went there in the past in a video that I made private. When you think of Yamaguchi, it’s Kawara Soba . I’m sure there are many Kawara Soba restaurants, but I would like to go to one of the more famous ones . But I guess it opened later in this area , English: So there aren’t many reviews yet… I think I’d like to go there. Original Kawara Soba Takase Nagato Yumoto Branch. Yanagiya is probably more famous around here , but I want to go to Takase. It’s retro, I’m sweating. There’s a JR line too, but I heard that the trains aren’t running there now. Do I have to go up here? I’m here! Is it around here ? It’s around here on the map, but where? It’s over here ! There it is… there was a flag. I’ve come all this way up, but if it’s not there, it’s too steep! So beautiful, each and every flow of water is beautiful, I’m here ! Takase’s Kawara Soba was dangerous, it’s closed tomorrow! Speaking of Yamaguchi, I’d like to go to a soba restaurant. Original Kawara Soba Takase Nagato Yumoto Branch. Is it inside the Yamamura Annex? Does that mean I didn’t really need to come up there ? It’s quite deep inside, and it’s their most popular dish, so if it’s for two people, this is it. It says it’s by far the most popular for one person, but it’s like , order this. I’ll read about the origins of Kawara Soba later. I’m here! The Kawara Soba and Eel Meal also came! No, I’d like to have Kawara Soba. It says that the origin of Kawara Soba is that in 1877, during the Seinan War, soldiers of the Satsuma army surrounding Kumamoto Castle would use roof tiles to grill wild plants and meat during the long night battles . Inspired by this story from an old man, our founder, Takase Shinichi, developed this tea soba using decades-old Japanese roof tiles and our own unique recipe , adding beef, shredded egg, seaweed, grated maple leaves, lemon, and also our own unique soup , and named it Kawara Soba. Nowadays, there are really many Kawara Soba restaurants, but this one claims to be the original, but perhaps there are other restaurants that claim to be the original. There was a place like that somewhere … where was it? Oh, where…it was in Niigata, or somewhere in Niigata. We are the original! We are the original! That’s how it went. Now, let’s have some Kawara Soba. Kawara soba is really good, to be honest I forgot to put it in the soup, but I thought there was some kind of soup, and it was delicious! The crispy texture of the brown soba noodles is also great, and the taste is just right, the balance of the beef, shredded egg, and lemon is just right, I really wish they sold more of this in supermarkets, I see it sometimes in supermarkets in Kyushu and elsewhere, it’s crispy and delicious! Now I’ll have the eel rice too, which is also delicious! I wonder where this eel rice set came from, I don’t think it’s related, but is it the original or does it go well with the kawara soba? Well, if I take any more pictures I’ll get cold, so is there a foot bath? I was about to go downstairs when I came across what looked like a foot bath, but who is this , like an empty shell ? What is this! Has it turned into a tree? What’s going on ! Is this a foot bath? But it looks like a foot bath. There’s a place to sit, so I wonder if it ‘s warm. Warm, warm, warm – it’s a hot spring or a foot bath. And if you go over here… this is the view. I want to get closer and see that water. It’s beautiful . Wow , so pretty. This place is so pretty. I see trains running through here too . Nagato Yumoto Station. Is this place still open? Karaoke Snack Doremi. It’s a very straightforward name, but it says Snack Popper is back ! May 30th. Will it be back soon? 3 days later, they’ll have iced coffee! Nice cigarettes! Nice 365+1 beer . Toraya Shopping. You can enjoy a retro stroll around the town, but if you turn this way, there are lots of extremely sophisticated buildings. The contrast is amazing. Look, this way is so Showa-era. The Jizo statues and other things are really high up and it’s worth seeing . Let’s go back to where we were earlier… I missed it. I was looking only at this side, so there was a shop I missed. This way. I passed by. This is Cafe & Pottery Oto. Should I go here? It seems like they’re displaying Hagi ware here. Shall we stop by? I took a short break at the old-style cafe, Cafe & Pottery, and they have things like Oto Matcha and Otoshin Blend. Today’s cake is Hagiyaki, a beautiful sweet orange sour , and today’s cake is a cheesecake topped with honey from the area, so I’ll have that too . It looks so delicious! Now I’d like to try it. The summer mandarin sour looks so good, so delicious, so good, so amazing , so good, so good , and then the cake, the cheesecake . Listening to the sound of the river babbling while eating this delicious cheesecake really makes me feel like time has changed. It’s topped with honey harvested in the area, so it adds a nice accent , and these summer mandarins are as expected, as you’d expect from a local specialty, and they ‘re delicious. No, they’re so good, they ‘re so pleasant , I don’t even need any music, the sound of the river babbling is enough as background music . Come on, talk to me! Onyu I was given special permission to show them around . This is the men’s bath, and it has a truly fantastical feel to it. There is some kind of statue in the back, and from there in front of you there is a rock, and it feels like the hot water is flowing from there and flowing all the way here. The source of this hot spring is said to be a truly miraculous hot spring, and it is said to be a hot spring that was truly bestowed by the gods, and it is not pumped up with a pump, but rather a hot spring that truly springs up naturally. Well, if that were all, it would be fine, but what’s more, the temperature is 39 degrees. That’s the temperature it has. The miraculous temperature combined with the fact that it springs naturally makes it extremely valuable, and it’s a hot spring that the people of this area have treasured. It’s a divine hot spring. The hot spring apparently springs up from the rocks, especially in that concrete area, or rather, the area nearby, between the men’s and women’s baths. It’s quite mystical to see it gushing out from there . They have various drinks such as drinking Onyu carbonated water. This time I ordered drinking Onyu and Nagato Yumoto Onsen pudding. Drinking Onyu is made from Onyu’s natural ores, and the mineral components have been condensed using patented craft hot spring technology. This is a drink with added Nomu Onyu. This is it! This is a drink with added Nomu Onyu. Please try the soup with natural multi-minerals received from the earth. The pudding is made with minerals extracted from the Onyu spring water, as well as generous amounts of carefully selected eggs and milk from Yamaguchi Prefecture, and the caramel has a bittersweet finish. It ‘s an adult pudding. I’m looking forward to it. First, let’s try the carbonated drink… Nomu Onyu . Does it taste a little sour? I feel like I can taste a difference in the aftertaste, but the base is just regular carbonated water, but it’s delicious after a hot spring bath. The hot spring was also really thick. The water was beautiful for the skin, and it was really fantastic and mysterious . I could also feel the design. Then I had the Nagato Yumoto Onsen pudding. It was a really good pudding. I can’t really taste the minerals, but when you think about it, I guess this pudding is like zero calories. It’s got healthy ingredients in it, so it’s like a complete reset. I missed this, but there’s a maple staircase. It’s so beautiful, and you can lie down there and look at the maple leaves . Until now, you could enjoy the fresh greenery, but I feel like by the time this video comes out, it’ll be the season for autumn leaves. I came to a place called Omijima , Marine Alps Omijima, which is called Omijima . The parking lot at this campsite says ” campsite today . ” Is that okay? But do they charge me? I don’t know where to get from here, but it was about a 10-minute drive, maybe less than 20 minutes, and we arrived here. This is Aomijima. Viewers have been asking me to film this place too, so I would like to film Aomijima separately, but this feels like the Nagato area, so I came here . I can’t go all the way, so today I would like to see this spectacular view from the Aomijima Nature Study Trail. They also do diving, don’t you think? The island looks like this, and it’s around here, so this is the place. It looks far from the Nagato Yumoto area by car, but it only takes about 20 minutes. If you’re coming by rental car, it’s an easy area to get to, so I think this is a spot you’ll enjoy. A little walk… are there really such spectacular views! That’s how it feels, but I’d like to go. There’s no one there. It’s 5:55 (in the afternoon) now, and it’s sunset in an hour, so the place where you can see the sunset is really close from here, about 10 minutes away, so I’d like to go there. Before that, I’d like to just take in this spectacular view and watch the sunset, so after the sunset I’ll go back and go for dinner. I’m staying at Kai Nagato with no meals included, so I’d like to eat dinner near the inn tonight. I want to enjoy both the food at the inn and the food in the area, so there were people there! There are people there, which is rare. The campsite is closed today , and the swimming season has ended. Is it really open at all times? Which side should I go? It said which side should I go? The one with the stairs that says Omijima Nature Study Trail. Huh? Which way? I think it might be this one, this one , there’s a cat over there, but it’s being watched by a customer who arrived earlier, this place also looks like it has a really spectacular view, my cat… it feels untouched, one of Japan’s 100 best beaches, this is it, it’s at the top of these stairs, this, this, Okay , this pattern again, never mind… I was just planning to relax, but… Seriously, it’s an island after all, island trips come with stairs, I don’t usually do that much training, but maybe island trips are helping to keep my body in shape , ho ho ho! What a spectacular view, the transparency of the sea is amazing, I’m looking forward to it, we’ll be there soon, but we still have some time ⤴︎⤴︎ No way! Even though I went to the hot springs, I’m sweating again, are we there yet?! Still, sigh… This is tough . I’m amazed they made these stairs in a place like this. It’s incredible. Around Nagahama Gundo Island , cliffs and caves have been created by the erosion of the waves… There are a lot of holes. This looks good. Apparently the wind is usually really strong, so in that sense it might be calm today. Have we arrived?! SemlaThe reef visible below is called Semura because there are so many rocks. The rocks in the mural in the Imperial Palace by artist Higashiyama Kaii were modeled after this place. There are certainly lots of rocks. Which way? Observation deckThe observation deck is on the left. We’re going left. It’s quite far away . Oh! Here we are! Observation Deck Surprisingly, this observation deck doesn’t require climbing. Hekidodai is a view named by Prince Takamatsu. The view of the rough waves of the Sea of Japan crashing against the rocks is majestic. Visible in the distance ahead is Mishima Island in Hagi City, 38 kilometers from here. This is a beautiful view spot, and the ocean is so pretty. Can I go further ? How far should I go? I’m so glad I came! Oh, I’ve come this far ! On my way back , my cat came all the way here! Hey hey! Was he waiting for me ? He looks hurt somehow. Is he here? He’s injured and all alone. Did something hurt his face ? He’s scared of the other cats. He’s hey, hey, hey, hey! Was it attacked by another cat? Meow/ I’ve been attacked… I can’t even make a sound My voice isn’t that quiet We’re filming now so I’d like you to speak up a bit Okay , okay! Okay, I’ll eat… but I’m not particularly skinny It looks like I’m being fed My fur is beautiful You’re injured… but you can’t make a sound? I’ll go get the sunset I heard a noise An enemy? Scary scary scary… See you! See you soon, take care The sunset spot at Fukagawa Bay It ‘s so amazing to be able to see the sunset It’s amazing It looks like you ‘ll be able to see the most amazing view It’s really amazing It’s rare to have a chance to see a sunset like this , but listening to the murmuring of the water and relaxing , watching the sunset like this, seeing the spectacular view, relaxing in the hot springs, if you’re normally busy with work, housework, childcare and all that, you can never take this precious time, but by staying at Nagato Yumoto Onsen you can relax and spend time like this I think it’s really a luxury When your life is short, even if at that time Even if I had assets worth hundreds of millions of yen, I may not be able to spend this kind of time, even with those assets. I want everyone to experience it as much as they can while they can. Time can never be turned back . I hope that you will spend this time , and the time you will have in the future, so that you do not forget even a little of the precious moments. It would be wonderful if the Mori Channel could give you such an opportunity. Now, please take your time and watch. We are going to go see the fireflies. I’m sure we should be able to see quite a few . Everyone is out to see them. I think it’s probably around here. If you can see them, the lights have been dimmed, which is a cool thing to do. They are here , they’re glowing, they ‘re here! They’re here, they’re not flying yet, they’re glowing quite a bit, they’ve stopped! On the lens! Amazing! They’ve stopped on the lens! A miracle! Well, the fireflies have put on a show, so I’m going to go bar hopping now. Yes, this is Kai Nagato, where I’m staying. And it’s only a short walk from there, there’s a yakitori restaurant, which is a blessing for me as I’m on a yakitori diet. It’s a great place, a really great place. I wonder if there aren’t many fireflies around here ? There seem to be some around here too. Where was I? Just a little further… Oh! The fireflies are so… what’s wrong? What’s wrong? On the road…on the road… Oh! I was surprised, my hand… it’s here, guiding me! The fireflies are coming here, they’re not feeling so great , but I can smell something nice, I can smell yakitori ! Some people are eating outside, I want to go there, Yakitori Sakura Shokudo has chicken hero and chicken chicken burdock , I’m intrigued, I have to order this, it’s soul food, you can also order sashimi, Sakura Pizza and Kanaga Chicken are also intriguing , Yakitori is pretty cheap, I want to try all the varieties, The drinks are also like this, what should I get, the sake is like this, I think I’ll start with beer , finally I can drink beer, if I was just going to spend the day walking around the town and the surrounding area , I could have been drinking from noon, but I really wanted to drive to the island, so I held off, it’s 8:35pm (in the afternoon), it looks like they’ll be taking their last orders in an hour, but that should be enough! If I could drink for an hour, then let’s eat. It’s delicious, I’d like a Ganki, please. I ordered sashimi , so I haven’t finished my beer yet, but I also ordered sake . I don’t want to be the last order, so the Ganki has already arrived. Here it is, I’ll hold off until the sashimi arrives. It’s grunt, kintoki snapper, and octopus. It ‘s Hirasu, grunt, some kind of sea bream, and octopus ⭕️ Kintoki snapper.Okay , so the sashimi has arrived, so I’ll pair it with some sake. Hirasu I ate it yesterday too. Yesterday I said yellowtail, but yellowtail and yellowtail are supposed to be the same fish. It has more texture than the yellowtail I ate yesterday , and the Ganki is dry, which goes well with sashimi . And it’s grunt. The fish is delicious, too. It’s some kind of sea bream, after all . Kintoki snapper. Sweet sea bream. Octopus . Everything is delicious ! But this is a yakitori restaurant, so I don’t think this is their specialty, and yet it’s so delicious … This could be the main focus, but then the yakitori comes on, so I’m looking forward to it. If I had to say , it’s like the cruise video on Mori Channel , it’s not the main focus, but it’s like an island trip is coming on. No, they’re both amazing, both are good, and both are good, but in the end I’m not sure what I’m trying to say anymore, since the name of the restaurant is Sakura, the story has gotten scattered. It’s liver, gizzard, and heart. This is liver gizzard. Let’s have the chicken hearts ! The liver is delicious ! It’s definitely a yakitori restaurant! It’s a good idea to go out for drinks at nearby restaurants, so it’s better to stay two nights. If you stay two nights and eat at the inn the first night, then eat at a restaurant like this the next day, I think it’s the best way to enjoy it. It would be a waste to only stay at the inn one night and eat only the food there. You can enjoy Kai Nagato to the fullest, but I don’t think you can fully enjoy the true beauty of this area. Let’s have the chicken gizzard shad. It ‘s delicious! This… and it was pretty cheap too. Should I order about 10 pieces ? Is that still okay? It’s chicken hearts. Yakitori is amazing . This will help you lose weight , right? I could eat 50 pieces and still gain 50kg. Now we’re here! We’ll have meatballs, chicken breast, thigh meatballs, and chicken breast. Let’s have a variety of chicken meatballs . These are the real thing! They’re chicken meatballs! What’s more , the outside is crispy. This is delicious chicken breast . I’m on a diet. This incredible chicken thigh makes even diet food taste this good. Chicken thighs are supposed to have a lot of fat, but the salt is on point. What did I do? Chicken thighs . Yakitori is the best. Choshu chicken! Only those in the know will know what this movement represents. I won’t say it. This is Chicken Hero, our Nagato City soul food, Chomonkyo. I’ve lost track of what I ordered and what I didn’t eat. I ordered too much. I ordered a drink called Chomonkyo and a highball. I ‘ll have the skin. The fat has been thoroughly removed , so it’s zero calories. This is the thigh. Now, I recommend Nagato’s soul food, Chicken Hero. Super juicy, juicy , yet crispy! You can eat it like a snack. Surprisingly, it goes well with Chomonkyo. This is also delicious. This one is also crisp. It feels like it was made with clean water. This is a yuba tofu dengaku salad. I’ll put the salad in between the two. These are also vegetables grown around here. Are the vegetables delicious around here? They’re crunchy and delicious! A popular menu item born in Yamaguchi’s school lunches: chicken, chicken, and burdock. Next is a popular menu item born in Yamaguchi Prefecture’s school lunches. We also have chicken pickled in lemon in my hometown. It’s really delicious. Did you know? They also have it in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, but in Yamaguchi Prefecture, chicken, chicken, and burdock are good, and maybe yuzu pepper? Is that it? I saw the name Yuzukichi Kosho . It’s called Yuzukichi or Yuzukichi Kosho. It’s so delicious. Plus, burdock is apparently good for people with allergies . Chicken and burdock go so well together. It’s a flavor that kids would love, so it definitely suits me, who is like a child. This is delicious. I don’t know what flavor it is, but it really is perfect for school lunches. It’s definitely a very popular menu item, and no one leaves anything. No, I said it was a popular menu item . If it’s not tasty, some people leave it, and I have to take on that responsibility all by myself. A lot of people order onigiri. Are onigiri popular? This is Nagachi. It looks like it’s very fatty, but it’s fine. It’s really good. I don’t like eating too much fried chicken, but it’s good. This restaurant is reliable. Or rather, isn’t this the only place? Are there any other places where I can get dinner ? But this place is reliable. The onigiri is here! Looks good, let’s eat! Everyone order some rice balls. Are they good? The drizzle is delicious and the food is really good too. This would be popular and perfect for finishing off a meal. It was delicious. Going out to eat is also an option. So, I’d like to go to one more place. There’s a bar, so let’s go to THE BAR NAGATO . Shall we have a drink or two before heading home ? We head to a bar with a Google rating of 4.5. No one there? Huh? Is it closed? It’s open . This one is open, but alas, it’s open. Is there no one there ? There’s no one there, but it feels like they’re calling out to us. I ordered the Ato apple Big Apple, which has the recommended scent for tonight, Leonardo. It uses local fruit. The taste is completely different too . What is the difference between the bubbles and the non-bubbly? The balance? This drink has a different texture , it’s so good, I really want to savor it little by little. I can taste the strawberry and it feels so luxurious. I’ll go for one more. This is Ato Apple’s Big Apple, a New York cocktail made with apple juice from Ato. This one is also really wonderful with the exquisite harmony of the foam and the non-foam parts. It’s delicate , it’s Big Apple, but it’s also delicate . The harmony of the foam and the non- foam parts is amazing. It’s not the type of cocktail that you shake, but it has fine bubbles in it and the fluffy finish gives it a more linear taste. That’s right, it gives it a linear taste. That’s exactly what it feels like. I make a point of shaking it. I have to shake it in my videos too, there are some shaking scenes, but when this bar is renovated, So it was like you were able to do it? I heard that you had been working towards that, but when Kai Resort opened, the COVID-19 pandemic started and renovations took a long time, so it was about six months late. Did you originally have a bar in Osaka? Yes, originally there was an earthquake in Kobe, so I moved to Osaka after the earthquake . At that time, I ran a bar for about a year and a half while working on the earthquake recovery, and this was your second store. Do you also have a store in Osaka now? English: It’s surprisingly close, isn’t it? So I thought it was surprisingly compact. Nagato City is rather long horizontally, east to west , but because it’s so narrow from north to south, it has this mountainous feel. It suddenly goes from a mountainous atmosphere to a seaside one, which is really nice, I thought it was a hidden gem, and the theme of the Nemori Channel is hidden gem travel for adults, so it really fits that description, and I think more people will come here after seeing the video. At first, I didn’t know that this place was great in summer, spring, and autumn, so I simply said that because it’s a hot spring, I wanted to release it before winter and was planning to release the video in September or October, but after coming here today, I think it would have been fine to release it now. Maybe the cherry blossoms are the best thing about it. Cherry blossoms are nice too . After my bath on my way back to the inn, they have this: Ono tea and summer mandarin juice. I wanted a drink yesterday, so I’m glad I came here. They also serve sake! It’s called a ROOM . Oh, so delicious! There are popsicles too! That’s great. I’ll drink this ! Hmm! Delicious! It’s crisp and fruity, and makes me want to eat something. This goes well after a bath. It’s about 8:30 in the morning, the third day of my trip to Yamaguchi and Nagato. I’m planning to have breakfast outside again today, as I ‘m staying overnight without meals . This place, TARU, seems to have opened recently. It ‘s an Italian restaurant with a Google rating of 4.9. TARU offers breakfast, lunch, cafe, and dinner, which is great . They said this might be the only place that serves breakfast. So, let’s go. Breakfast was like this: minestrone soup, homemade focaccia, a salad made with local vegetables, and yuzu-kichi juice. They had summer mandarin juice, and I had a really hard time deciding, but I decided on this. Let’s eat . The yuzu – kichi juice for a wake – up has just the right amount of sourness. It’s refreshing for waking up in the morning. It was too weak in the morning , so I was totally drowsy, but I don’t know what it means, but it wakes me up. The minestrone is so filling that I thought it might be risotto for a moment. It’s really filling , with lots of filling ingredients. The breakfast in Nagato is really filling, which is great, but it ‘s also nice to be able to eat such a large breakfast outside like this. If it’s not enough, you can apparently eat an unlimited amount of focaccia, so it looks delicious! It would also be delicious dipped in chewy minestrone soup, and the vegetables seem fresh. It would be no surprise if this became a popular breakfast spot, but I’m the only one here right now. What’s going on? Where are everyone else going? There’s a place you should go to. I was talking to someone from Kai earlier, and they said it’s incredibly beautiful during cherry blossom season. The fresh greenery when I’m here is really nice, but the autumn leaves and cherry blossoms are also great. Cherry blossom season is especially beautiful, but it’s not that crowded. Usually, famous cherry blossom spots are incredibly crowded, but it’s actually a hidden gem! I think it ‘s a good time to visit , and it’s a good time to come when this video is playing. You can also enjoy it when I go, and if my video becomes a big hit , it may no longer be a hidden gem, so I would like to buy and eat some dorayaki here while I can. These are Yuzukichi dorayaki. I bought an outdoor tea ceremony set, so I can enjoy it in this environment. I’ll make about three cups of matcha and add a little hot water. So, in this wonderful environment, the sound of the water flowing right in front of me is amazing, so I’ll take a picture of that too. I would like to make some tea there. I hardly ever make tea, so I’ll go ahead and do it . So, I’ll make three cups…about two cups. First cup…I’ve made two cups. So, I’ll pour in the hot water. They’ve prepared the water for me. I wonder if it’s enough to open all of it . I’d like to make some tea . I’ve never done this before, but I wonder if it’s okay . It’s great to be able to experience things that you would never experience in your everyday life. Okay! I think I did it. These tea utensils are great. I chose this blue one, and it really stands out against this view. It feels so good , I want to take a photo. So, shall we have some matcha? And not only is it delicious, it calms your mind as well. Now, let’s have some dorayaki. This is Yuzukichi ‘s dorayaki. I’ve heard rumors that these dorayaki are delicious, and I heard from someone at a certain travel agency that the dorayaki was delicious, so I was looking forward to it. Oh , it’s so good! It has yuzu in it, so I wonder if it’s quite sour? But it didn’t taste like that at all. The main flavour is red bean paste, but there’s also a slight hint of yuzu flavour. There’s also more fillings inside , hmmm, it has something like marmalade inside which is absolutely delicious. If you come here you should definitely try it. Along with the matcha, you really can’t experience this unless you come to a place like this. The same goes for the calligraphy I did on the day I checked in, and since elementary school I’ve probably only had the experience of making tea at an event or something… People are talking but it’s being broadcast, that’s great! This kind of town broadcasting has a certain charm. This is a test of J-Alert, so please try it out. It seems that this hot spring town was very lively during the bubble period, and it seems that large groups of tourists would come in, but now we are in the age of individual travel, so it has become a bit deserted as a result, and they are trying to revive it by cleaning it up like this, and it’s wonderful, isn’t it? I was quite impressed . For example, the bridge is flat, so you can place tea here and relax. There are really various designs like that , and the place where we had matcha earlier was also wonderful. It has been designed to allow you to enjoy the unique experience of individual travel today, and spend your time relaxing . They have made sure to preserve the good old places. This is something that you really should experience for yourself. It may be a signpost for Japan’s survival in the future. Now, I will take a special photo of the large public bath. This is the women’s bath. There is a proper place to groom yourself, there is also a Dyson hair dryer, and all the towels are provided like this. The large public bath looks like this. It is a spacious bath . Some of the tubs are a little small, but the view is also open. This side is the hot side and this side is the lukewarm side, and the hot spring water is flowing into the lukewarm side. I think the temperature of the hot spring water was 39 degrees, so let’s go to the back. There is an open-air bath at the back, which has an extremely open feeling. I went in last night too and it was great. The water is really very alkaline and very thick! It’s wonderful, so I took my time in. When I went in yesterday there were very few people so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. There is an open-air bath in the room too, so you can use your room if you like, but I think the charm of a large public bath is that it has such a spacious and open feeling , and the washing area looks like this, and it feels like you can just jump into the bath straight from there. It was so open and felt really nice, and my skin was so soft. On my way to my last spot, Daineiji Temple The last place I stopped off at was Daineiji Temple, which seems to be quite famous in the Nagato Onsen area, and is located like this. It says Nagato Yumoto area, and currently Chionyu is above there, and Kai Nagato is next to it, and it’s near the autumn leaves stairs and so on. There are many details written here as well, Mr. Ouchi has a deep connection with Nagato Yumoto Onsen? Oh … I can’t read it at all It seems like the scenery here is also amazing In spring, cherry blossoms and autumn leaves cover the entire area, so this is a pretty big overall view We are here now, but if you go up to the main hall it looks like this and there are many other things as well There are also places with lots of banners like this Lord Ouchi Yoshitaka was chased out of Yamaguchi due to treason… a lot happened Here it says the origin of Yumoto Onsen Yumoto Onsen was founded by the 3rd head priest Joan Shuzen at the time… I have no idea what it says Please explain it to me! : In times like these, it’s best to ask ChatGPT Sensei for help. Daineiji Temple, Yumoto Onsen. I ‘ll ask ChatGPT Sensei to explain gently and write gently. Daineiji Temple and Nagato Yumoto Onsen, both located in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, are famous places with a deep connection dating back approximately 600 years. I’ll introduce the charms of Daineiji Temple, nestled in the quiet mountains, and Nagato Yumoto Onsen, where you can enjoy mysterious hot springs. What is Daineiji Temple? It’s complicated . Nagato Yumoto Onsen is the oldest hot spring in Yamaguchi Prefecture, said to have been discovered by Joan Shuzen of Daineiji Temple during the Muromachi period after receiving a revelation from Sumitomo Daimyojin . That’s where this place comes in. At the center of it all is Onyu, a bathhouse built directly above the hot spring source, where you can enjoy fresh hot spring water gushing out from the bottom of the tub. Renovated in 2020, it’s a modern, single-story building where you can enjoy hot spring water directly from the source . I see, so there was a connection, and it was discovered by someone here. It was a revelation from God, which is why it’s called the hot spring of the gods. I think I went to a shrine near Onyu yesterday, and apparently the person there came here to study at the temple, and after learning from that, the gods thanked him by creating a hot spring there . That’s the story behind it. It’s like effort is rewarded. I wonder if I’ll be recognized soon and have a hot spring… I wonder if they’ll let me have one at home. While I’m thinking about that, it probably won’t come. This place is amazing, too . There’s a mystical tree , and the sound of the water is amazing. It’s also said to be the birthplace of the Genji firefly, a natural monument ! It’s beautiful here and there, and each one is worth seeing. Wow , there are carp swimming, too. There are so many places worth seeing, and yet there’s no one there. The other tourists are amazing. It’s indescribably beautiful . It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay for a long time ! Surely I have to climb this? Surely not this way? This is impossible . It should be this way. Okay, this way. It’s huge! And this place is also beautiful, it’s all picturesque. And if you look closely, it’s a shrine. It seems that to get to a temple, you really have to climb up here. I wonder if the hot springs will spring up in recognition of this effort. At the very end, seriously? I only intended to make a quick stop, but this is insane! No way, I can’t see what’s ahead , I don’t even know if there’s a temple there. Did they really build a temple in a place like this? Seriously, the only good thing about it is that it’s cool. Seriously , isn’t this the right place? Maybe I should try turning around from this side. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe it’s not this. There are other tourists here, it’s not right . What’s this ? There’s nothing here. Wow… it’s already closed. I’ve come to a mysterious place. It ‘s not a temple. It looks like there’s an amazing sword . I was wrong. My training has already started from here. I’m in a hurry. They want to show everyone the correct path. This is the side from where the stairs were. This side. Yes, I did it . No way, it’s a maze. I can hear a great whistle. There’s a bell here too . Here we are! This is it, it’s magnificent and there’s an explanation here, this is the main hall of Daineiji TempleThis is Daineiji Temple… I can’t read it anymoreIt’s difficultWell , now I understand that it ‘s the main hallGoodIt ‘s really difficultI think this part needs to be fixed tooI think it’s a problem that it can’t be readIt ‘s a problem that I can’t read kanji, but I think there are not many people who can read itPostscript to my trip to Nagato, YamaguchiThis brings to an end my trip to Nagato Yumoto OnsenBut there’s more to comePlease don’t think I’m going to wrap it up hereIt ‘s still going onI would like to go through the whole trip and give my impressions , but in one word, why didn’t you come!? That’s the kind of place it is. Originally, Nagato Yumoto Onsen was incredibly popular during the bubble era, with around 400,000 visitors , but by 2014, that number had dropped to half that, 200,000. People wanted to do something about it, and they wanted to make it into the top 10 hot spring resorts in Japan, so they thought about it a lot, and Hoshino Resorts came up with that goal and completed the first phase of renovations in 2020 , and I think it’s really a wonderful place that’s suited to the modern era. I think it’s a wonderful place to begin with, and there are so many ways to enjoy it in all four seasons, and it even has its own divine hot spring, so it’s an incredibly great place, but I think for some reason it hasn’t really stuck in people’s minds or been well known, so even if you say it’s now ranked number one hot spring resort in Japan, it’s just not that great , that’s just not right! I think it’s become such a great hot spring resort that you won’t even think of it like that. It’s truly one of a kind, a place that makes use of the good old things while also incorporating new elements, and where you can have a variety of experiences. There’s also a lot to see around here. This temple alone is really worth seeing, but there are no people there, and it wouldn’t be surprising if there was a line here and it was full of foreigners. The first pond we went to was Benten Pond, I think. It was really beautiful, and the island we drove to was also really beautiful, and the surrounding area is also really nice. There’s the sea, the mountains, and historical sites, so it’s all there and even in the summer the air is really clean. The spring is pleasant , the cherry blossoms are wonderful , the autumn the leaves are wonderful, and the winter is wonderful too. I think it ‘s a shame that there are so few people in such a place. I really hope that people will find out about it through this video and visit. I would also like to come back in the spring . This is a hidden gem, it doesn’t feel strange to call it a hidden gem. What I thought was amazing was when I talked to the people at the inn, the people at the bar yesterday, and the people at all the shops. When I go to various tourist spots, there are some areas where it seems like people don’t really love the local area , like, what’s so good about a place like ours? But I really felt that all the people here, including the immigrants, think this place is wonderful and are proud of it. I want more people to know what a great place it is , so I think everyone should come. Rather than me explaining it, wouldn’t you rather go to a place where the locals are so proud ? So, I’d like to conclude today by saying that I hope you all will visit. You can stay at Kai Nagato for 32,000 yen per person, including breakfast and dinner, but I think it would be better to think of it as a price that includes the entire town, rather than just the accommodation . Everything has been built , so while the temple hasn’t been built, the hot spring resort has, so I would definitely recommend you experience it. After this, I’m heading to the airport and will be flying with JAL. There are flights from Haneda to Yamaguchi Ube, and from there you can rent a car. It’s about an hour, so you’ll have to drive, but once you get over that hurdle, it’s totally doable, and the driving isn’t particularly congested, and the roads are really nice, so I definitely recommend you go ! Oh no … I’m running out of time. Heading to the airport . After about an hour and 10 minutes? 20 minutes of driving, I arrived at Yamaguchi Ube Airport. From there, I’ll fly back to Haneda and then to Itami via Haneda . Amazing! The second floor is super lively, and they even have cars stored there! Wow, I’m going to have to go through security now! I wish I could have seen it. This was the best trip ever ! A lot happened over the three days and two nights, but it was amazing and I was very satisfied. Yamaguchi Ube Airport → Haneda Airport. A behind-the-scenes look at this video is exclusively available! Check the description for details! A backpack for traveling . Do you use one? I’m wearing this right now . Take a look. At first glance , it doesn’t look like it has much in it, but it actually has a ton of stuff in it. My wallet is in here, and I need business cards, passport, and earphones too . If I suddenly feel like playing Switch, I have a Nintendo Switch . If I want to play a game, I have another one in there too . Even with that, it’s thin. And keys! You can put car keys, a wallet, and so on. How many wallets can you fit in it?! It also has two pockets on the outside , so you can put disinfectant wipes and stuff , and you can even fit a water bottle in the back ! You might think that this backpack can hold a lot, but there’s even a laptop in the back! With all this stuff in it, even if you’re worried about going out to eat on your trip , wanting to switch off, or maybe even getting thirsty, you can fit everything in there! You’re probably worried about getting pickpocketed if you carry a backpack, so this is a wearable backpack. It’s an absolute must-have for travelers! Travel is an investment in yourself!
