Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15 fighter jets have arrived at an air base in Germany for defense exchanges.

Two F-15s landed at Laage Air Base in northeastern Germany on Tuesday. The aircraft belong to the ASDF’s Chitose Air Base in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido.

F-15 fighter jets have been dispatched to the United States, Canada, Britain and Germany from September 14 to October 1. Germany is the last destination. The mission is designed to strengthen cooperation with the countries through defense exchanges.

It marks the first-ever dispatch of ASDF fighter jets to Europe and Canada.

Personnel of the ASDF and the German Air Force exchanged views.

The German Air Force showed the training of its Eurofighter jets, which are conducting surveillance activities in eastern Europe as part of NATO’s rapid response force.

ASDF Chief of Staff General Morita Takehiro said that the security of the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific is inseparable and interconnected. He went on to say that the ASDF hopes to deepen defense cooperation and exchanges with Germany.

The Inspector of the German Air Force, Lieutenant General Holger Neumann, said that the two sides have agreed to work together to defend the rules-based societies and democracies beyond the regions of Asia, Europe and North America.
