The manager of a hut on Mount Kurodake in Hokkaido filmed the mountain’s first snow of the season around 6AM on September 21, which makes the arrival one day later than the previous year.
Mount Kurodake is part of a mountain range in Daisetsuzan National Park and measures 1,984 meters in elevation.
The manager saw sleet around 3AM and confirmed the presence of snow 3 hours later.
It was 0 degrees Celsius at the time.
The region is currently in the middle of tourism season for the changing fall leaves.
