What Were Naomi Osaka and Jannik Sinner Spotted Doing?
Osaka and Sinner have shown that tennis rivalries don’t always define player relationships. The two champions have been spotted bonding at multiple tournaments this year. During the US Open, they enjoyed a friendly ping pong match at their hotel. The event was hosted by the Baccarat Hotel New York as part of its annual “Petit Slam” gathering. Both players used custom red paddles on a crystal table while guests watched their playful competition.
Their friendship has continued at the China Open in Beijing. A recent video shows both players taking a casual stroll together at the venue. Osaka is seen wearing headphones while Sinner is seen talking to her. The Japanese star is seen smiling during their walk, showcasing their easy friendship.

Former Champions Aiming for Second China Open Title
Both players are looking to capture their second China Open title. Osaka won her first Beijing crown in 2019. That campaign was special for the four-time Grand Slam champion. She defeated Jessica Pegula in the opening round 6-3, 7-6. She then beat Bianca Andreescu in the quarterfinals before defeating Caroline Wozniacki in the semifinals. The final saw Osaka come from behind to beat top-seeded Ashleigh Barty 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. This gave her the third WTA title in 2019 and fifth overall.

Sinner claimed his Beijing title in 2023 during his breakthrough season. The Italian had never beaten Daniil Medvedev in six previous meetings. But he broke through in the China Open final with a 7-6, 7-6 victory. He defeated world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals before overcoming Medvedev. The win helped Sinner reach No. 4 in the world rankings, and it also secured his spot at the ATP Finals for the first time. That title was his third of the 2023 season and ninth overall.
