SAN ANTONIO — A local teen is preparing to represent the United States at a prestigious DJ world championship in Tokyo.
17-year-old Rene Cardenas, known as DJ ‘The Kid RC 3’, is a two-time national DJ battle champion and a student at KIPP Aspire Academy.
A send-off party was held on Sunday for Cardenas as he gets ready to compete in the “DMC World Finals,” an event akin to a battle of the bands where DJs from around the globe showcase their best sets for a championship title.
Cardenas says his entire family is grateful for the support from the community over the years.
The DMC Finals are scheduled for October 11 and 12.
