with mostly free entrance. This day was an opening day of
Masayoshi Sukita exibition – a well-known photographer
who have photographed world’s top rock stars. One of the pioneers who
led Fukuoka’s coffee culture This place is α KUJIRA branch
located in Yakuin, Fukuoka. I choose this beans for my hand drip. Not very many people know
that their toast is one of the best. It’s freshly baked everyday at the cafe, and they use the ingredients
that are carefully selected. Crispy on the outside, super moist on the inside. The second floor always feels
as cozy as home. COFFEE COUNTY has two locations
in Fukuoka City and one location in Tokyo. And this is their headquarter in Kurume city,
Fukuoka. You can enjoy world-class specialty coffee here. There is a delicassen inside the same space – where you can order some cakes. I ordered a Kabosu citrus cheesecake
to pair with the Rwanda coffee. The aroma of kabosu adds a refreshing note that balances the sweetness. I had a relaxing time inside
the cave-like space. I will have beans from Mexico
to go home with.

The specialty coffee shops I want to introduce in #Fukuoka never seem to run out, yet.
There are pioneering cafés that have led Fukuoka’s coffee culture, as well as a highly anticipated new coffee shop that opened in 2025.
All of them are overflowing with expertise and passion for specialty coffee.
Their interiors and merchandise also shine with individuality.

Another new coffee shop has opened in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, in 2025.
With a minimalist and cool interior dominated by black, it offers a calm space to enjoy specialty coffee.
The coffee bags with polka dots, reminiscent of Comme des Garçons, and the playful merchandise are also very appealing.
Their creative drinks, made with matcha or roasted green tea combined with espresso, are highly recommended for international guests as well.

A pioneering figure in Fukuoka’s coffee culture, Kujira is the largest of the city’s several coffee shops, featuring a two-story space where many locals come to work, meet, and gather.

A specialty coffee shop visited by many people even within Fukuoka City, its headquarters is located in Kurume, featured in the video.
Inside the café, with a cave-like atmosphere and beautiful interior, you can enjoy world-class coffee sourced from around the globe.
If you make the trip to Kurume, it’s definitely a place worth stopping by.
