TOKYO, Japan — Jamaica’s Romaine Beckford crashed out of the men’s high jump finals at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, failing to clear the opening height of 2.20m.
Beckford had cleared 2.25m in the preliminary round, albeit needing to use all three attempts on all three heights.
The former National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) champion and two-time national champion had finished 10th at last year’s Olympic Games in Paris.
