BodyArmor
Osaka signed an endorsement deal with beverage company, BodyArmor, in 2019.
According to her longtime agent, Stuart Duguid, this proved to be a wise business move. In an interview with First&Red, he said Coca-Cola was also looking to sign Osaka, but she turned it down to earn more in the long run with BodyArmor.
“With Coca-Cola, they were offering her a lot of money, but she said, ‘Number one, I don’t drink Coca-Cola. Number two, if this company does really, really well, I’ll make even more than I’ll make with Coca-Cola,’” Duguid recalled on the podcast.
“In the end, we signed with a company called BodyArmor, which is a hydration drink. That was eventually sold to Coca-Cola, ironically. And when there was a transaction, it was sold for over a billion dollars, and she had a percentage of that company, so she made much more from that deal than anything else,” he continued.
Osaka’s business acumen extends further than just investing. She has founded various ventures, including KINLÒ, a skincare brand for melanated skin; Evolve Agency, a female-athlete led talent agency; and Hana Kuma a multicultural media platform.
