Inside Tokyo Nightlife: Shinjuku’s Neon Streets — Day 13

Tokyo after dark is all neon streets, smoky alleys, and endless fun. Tonight, let’s explore kuyu together. Hello, usually walkers. This is day 13 of living in Tokyo for 30 days as a digital nomad. And yesterday, I had a lot of ramen around 800 g of pork perhaps. Today, it’s all about showing you the night life, especially in the Shinku area. But first, of course, let’s get some coffee. [Music] All right. So, this coffee shop is a little bit hard to find because you got to go to a small entrance on the way to the metro and it’s called Covered. They only have a specialtity coffee. Oi. And yes, I’m ranking all the coffee shops that I try and it’s getting harder because this one is really good. But I’m going to put on the third out of 12 that I’ve seen so far. Okay, first I’m going to meet my friends in a conversation cafe. Apparently, there’s a meet up to learn other languages. This place is like an English language cafe. It’s just a way and a place to exchange cultures, I suppose. And I think some of the people or all the people come here, the Japanese people are interested in different cultures. And I am equally interested and that’s why it’s like win-win for everybody. I think [Music] here is the table for people who want to practice Japanese. Hello. Oh, so you’re the one teaching Japanese. Which uh word should I learn in Japanese? And what does that what does that mean? It’s like a very useful and it’s going to be like a tasty, very good or what or like very like not like sugitive or negative meaning. So, it depends on the situation. I didn’t know that one. Okay, I’m going to going to say jabai now. Jabai. Jabai. Jabai. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Did you learn something here? I got to practice Japanese. That’s great. But now we’re going to go to the neon lights classic. Yeah, there’s two areas and the golden guy. [Music] It’s so Japanese, so bright. Okay, we’re trying to find a place to eat. There’s so many like small shops. It’s hard to choose, but it’s so cool. It’s so crowded, but it’s so cool to walk around these streets. Yeah, the smells. Oh, smells so good. All right. So, we’re going to end up eating in this place. I don’t know the name, but it has Wu over there. Tan Sukiyaki Don. I think I have a I think that that one looks cool. I might try that one. [Music] All right. So, this time I’m going to try high ball because it’s a typical drink from Japan. All right. Cheers, guys. Campai. Campai. This is Okay. We start with jagator skewers and some edamame. Of course, I ordered the Wu udu noodles, man. Let’s see. Let’s try the Wu first. Just the meat. Okay. I think I started to like more and more Wu. This beef. Wow. All right. That was a nice dinner. We’re going to leave Omo Yoko. And now we’re going to calling guy. It’s nice to see you again. By the way, it’s like the third country, four countries. Yeah. Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, and now now Japan. Japan. Three continents. Yes. Nice to see you again. Nice to see you again, too. So, this is we’re right in the heart of the Golden Guy. Just a basically a little neighborhood where there are a lot of unique bars. Um, and yeah, part of the fun is to just come here and then you look at the signs and you just see like some unique places and try to find and you’re just like, “Oh, what’s what’s here?” And that’s part of the fun. You’re just supposed to go in and explore and then see. I love it. You know, let’s let’s get a bar. Let’s find Let’s go find a bar. So, like right here there’s just this inconspicuous door. I I don’t know. For some reason, I saved it. I don’t remember why. We’re about to find out if it was good or or bad. Check it out. very narrow like stair to go. Yeah, this is a Okay, apparently this bar is called A because the owner, she’s a woman, they like a movie called and even the director of the movie came to this bar. It’s so interesting. Yeah. Yeah. We just find out that this place is 50 years old. I ended up having sake cuz it’s one of the coolest things to get in Japan as well. Kai or Kai? Oh, hi No, I like that. It’s It’s a very authentic Japanese authentic Japanese bar. 50 years. Wow. Okay. Yeah. So, it’s all about like bar hopping, but literally trying to find the best. There’s so many cool cool places. Okay. Let’s try to find the second bar. [Music] Yes, this is very harassing. [Music] Yeah, this is like a show, bro. It’s funny because the bartender was giving us the drink from the bar, but we’re in the rooftop bar. Okay, come by. Goodbye. Come by. This drink is really good, by the way. It’s called Mo. It’s like a local cocktail from this place. Good stuff. You’re supposed to pay for lunch, but yeah. The lunch buffet. He didn’t pay. So, yeah, that was a fun night at Shinyuku. I hope you enjoy the places that I show you. Remember that the next two days is going to be a new challenge. So, you’re going to help me decide where I’m going to work and it’s going to be fun places. I’m going to post a poll on YouTube and you decide what’s happening. So, I’m going to reply some of your comments now. Concal says, “Thank you, Genki. Sergio may need you after getting this cold. I know climbing Mount Fuji was not that easy, especially with the weather, but luckily I’m good. So, I didn’t use Genki, but I have it just in case. So, thank you, Genki. Uh Kevin says, “I really appreciate that you share the real stories. Excited about the next 20 days.” I know like posting real time. This only time to post what’s really happening. So, I hope you enjoyed the video so far. And the Divine Chef asking, “Love your videos. Like, when are you going back to Mexico?” Funny enough, I’m going next year for the World Cup because it’s happening in Mexico, USA, and Canada. And also it’s going to be a great time to see my dad because I haven’t seen him in a while. But yeah, I’m just going to go sleep and I’m gonna wait for your answers for the next challenge. All right, see you tomorrow. Ciao. [Music]

Shinjuku at night is one of the wildest experiences in Tokyo — neon signs, smoky yakitori alleys, tiny bars, and endless crowds.

In today’s vlog, I’m taking you on a Tokyo night walk through Shinjuku, with a twist: joining a language exchange meetup to connect with locals and travelers. This mix of chaos and community shows why Tokyo nights are truly unforgettable.

  1. Curious what laptop culture is like at the cafes. Do most of them have outlets and wi-fi available or does it feel out of place to have a laptop out?
