Japan is a dream destination for many thanks to its culture, traditions, food and architecture. And now also for its Barça connection. During a family trip taking in Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Hiroshima, young Marc Ibáñez, a player with Barça Escola Barcelona’s U10 side, made sure football was part of the adventure.
Through his Barcelona-based school, contact was made with the coaches at Barça Academy Katsushika, the club’s base in Tokyo. Marc jumped at the chance to train with local youngsters his own age, pulling on the Barça shirt alongside his temporary teammates. It proved to be an unforgettable experience for both sides.
Exchange of gifts
Marc brought along small blaugrana souvenirs for each of the Katsushika players, which were received with delight. In return, the Academy presented him with a commemorative diploma and a Katsushika Barça Academy shirt — keepsakes that are sure to take pride of place back home in Catalonia.
