Poland’s most famous composer is about to step into the global spotlight in a way never seen before as his biopic “Chopin, Chopin!” — described by its creators as one of the most ambitious and spectacular projects in the history of Polish cinema — has been selected for a prestigious showcase at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

The film will serve as the official closing feature of the world exposition, a cultural and economic event of global scale.

For director Michał Kwieciński and his team, the invitation is more than a nod of approval — it’s a chance to showcase Polish cinema on one of the world’s biggest cultural stages.

Set to premiere in cinemas on October 10, “Chopin, Chopin!” blends sweeping period detail with a bold visual style inspired by the chiaroscuro of Caravaggio and Rembrandt, according to gazeta.pl.

Viewers can expect lavish sets, authentic costumes and props, and a production value that sets it apart from anything previously attempted in Polish cinema.

With a budget of some €16 million, the film is among the most expensive Polish productions to date. It was more than two years in the making.

Starring Eryk Kulm as Chopin, the production promises to immerse viewers in 19th-century Paris, the setting of the composer’s greatest triumphs, loves, and struggles.

The soundtrack underscores the project’s ambition: Chopin’s masterpieces are interwoven with original compositions by Hildur Guðnadóttir — the Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy-winning composer known for Joker and Chernobyl — as well as music by Berlin-based producer Robot Koch.
