stray cats of japan πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸˆ

In Japan, cats with a clip deer are called Sakura, which means cherry blossom cat. This is because the V-shaped deer looks like a cherry blossom petal, meaning that the cat is neutered. Animal support groups capture stray cats, have them sterilized by a vet, and return them to their original location. The ear is cut during surgery while the cat is under anesthesia, so it doesn’t hurt. A clipped right ear indicates male, and a clipped left ear is female. Okinawa, in particular, struggled with large foul cat populations. Overpopulation could damage the ecosystem and spread diseases among the cats themselves. The original controversial solution was to euthanize cats, but neutering is more humane and sustainable. Neutered cats who live outdoors are known as community cats. They’re basically adopted by the local community. Locals take care of them by providing food and water and also clean up their waste. You’ll see cats lounging outside stores like a manager, and most are very friendly.

  1. Is this where the idea of umamusume using the accesory location on left or right ear to indicate the gender of the horse it was inspired by πŸ˜‚

  2. in most other countries outdoor animals after neutering just get a yellow earring which bleeds less and heals quicker

  3. Od love to see a pokemon where they genders are differentiated by weather the ear has a nick in it to the left or right

  4. Huh, call me crazy, is the clipped ear position is the inspiration for the accessory placement in Uma Musume? Like, Goldship (who is a male horse irl) has an accessory on her right ear while Haru Urara (who’s actually a mare irl) has an accessory on her left ear.

  5. I love japan when they have cats and don’t apologize to China for the crimes they committed during ww2 😊

  6. I'm glad this specific area of Japan is not against TNR. Iirc it's shunned in some places like the cat islands (I think?) I mean yeah cute cats everywhere but it's not sustainable. And as mentioned can spread diseases and damage the ecosystem.

  7. My neighborhood does the same thing! And im in america??? Legendary fr, super uncommon. Love u japan, america should aspire to be like you

  8. my cat has a clipped ear because of this as well, although it doesn’t have a cute cherry blossom shape it’s just a straight cut πŸ˜”

  9. Having many stray cats around is a plus on its own. They help to keep the mice population under control. Plus cats in general are rather clean animals compared to dogs.

  10. It’s cute but keep in mind that those stray cats hunt down birds and other small animals like hedgehogs and squirrels, so they are themselves a pest to the environment and cause the increase of mosquitoes and other unwanted insects.

  11. It’s really nice but I don’t like that there cut cats ears. Some cuts are small but some are too big….

  12. It's great that they neuter them, but why cut off a bit of their ear? I'm sure there is another way to signal that they are neutered

  13. I had to explain this to my 69 yr old coworker like a month ago πŸ˜… she really thought there was a neighborhood group who just really hated cats so they neutered them and put them back out. I was too stunned to speak for a solid minute πŸ˜‚

  14. Awww we also have this in Plovdiv! The ear clipping just isnt as fancy as ours is a straight line. I also think ours get vaccinated against stuff like rabies as well. I haven't noticed if the side the ear was clipped on means anything tho. We also do this with stray dogs but instead of clipping their ears they get little ear tags with numbers on them :>

  15. Imagine wondering around, living your life, and some giants kidnap you, knock you out, and next thing you know you're waking up with yourself being neutered, your ear is sore and has an indent now, and you're back where you were chilling.πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
