CAPE TOWN 🇿🇦 Sea Point Promenade – Sunset Walk✨| Coastal Lifestyle & Ocean Vibes | 4K Binaural Audio

Welcome to Cape Town✨. Today we’re in Sea Point!
Let’s soak up the sun, feel the breeze,
and enjoy the mountain and ocean views. Our walk along the promenade begins at the Sea Point Pavilion, and ends with sunset at Mouille Point Park by the Green Point Lighthouse. Along this walk, you’ll discover hidden Dotted Paths logos—can you spot them all? 👀 The Sea Point Pavilion Swimming Pool, was a landmark public project that opened in 1959. It has an impressive Olympic-sized pool, kids’ pools, and a diving board filled with filtered seawater. Before there were any Pavilions, this coastline hosted the Sea Point tidal baths,
built around 1895 near Church Road. Those early baths were gender-separated rock pools,
but they were destroyed by a storm in 1911. In 1913–14, the first Pavilion was built to replace the tidal baths, complete with a tea-room, open-air stage, and cinema. The current Pavilion Pools, are sometimes called the ‘second Pavilion’, they were constructed in the 1950s as a modern swimming complex. You should see this place during the peak summer season! It gets packed with locals and tourists alike, enjoying the pools, sun, and seaside atmosphere. Next to the pools is this ‘public plaza’, a lively space with food trucks, ice cream stands, and benches where visitors gather to relax and watch the ocean. On Sundays and during summer, the plaza comes alive with open-air dance events, including salsa, where locals and visitors gather to move, socialize, and enjoy the ocean breeze. Nestled adjacent to the Sea Point Pavilion is Broken Bath Beach. It is one of seven beaches along the Sea Point Promenade. While swimming in the open ocean isn’t recommended due to strong currents, the beach offers sheltered rock pools perfect for wading and sunbathing. The area is popular among families and those seeking a quieter spot to relax by the sea. It is worth noting that the beach can occasionally have a strong seaweed odor during certain times of the year. A short stroll from the Sea Point Pavilion, Milton Beach is a tranquil spot ideal for families and swimmers. Milton Beach features a protected tidal pool, making it one of the safest beaches for swimming along the Atlantic Seaboard. The beach is also known for its seasonal jellyfish appearances, which, while fascinating, require caution. As you can see, the Sea Point Promenade offers a variety of outdoor fitness options for all ages. Ahead is a section of the promenade that holds an interesting bit of history. This is where the remains of Graaff’s Pool can still be seen among the rocks. Graaff’s Pool is a historic tidal pool nestled between Marais and Oliver Roads in Sea Point. It was built in 1910 by businessman Pieter Marais for his paralyzed wife. The pool had a private tunnel connecting it to their mansion, Villa Bordeaux, thus ensuring discreet access. The pool was later named after Jacobus Arnoldus Graaff, who bequeathed it to the City of Cape Town in 1929. Today, remnants of the pool remain, offering a glimpse into its past and a quiet spot for reflection or photography by the sea. Stretching along the edge of the promenade is the Sea Point seawall, a concrete barrier that has protected the coastline since the early 20th century. For decades, this wall has shielded the promenade and apartments along beach road, and had significantly defined Sea Point’s seaside charm. The Sea Point seawall and promenade have become a vibrant canvas for public art, transforming utilitarian coastal infrastructure into a dynamic open-air gallery. If you glance up, you might catch a flash of color drifting down from the sky. Paragliders, having launched from Signal Hill, land right here on the promenade’s grassy edge. As they land—feet brushing the earth, canopy collapsing in a soft sigh—the promenade becomes a stage. This landing zone isn’t marked by fences or fanfare. It’s just part of the landscape now… On a clear day like this, the city reveals its full silhouette. Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, and Signal Hill forming a perfect, iconic backdrop. Today, the Atlantic lies quiet—its surface smooth as glass, reflecting the pale blue of a windless sky. But this calm is deceptive. Cape Town’s coast has known fury: winter storms that hurl waves over Sea Point’s promenade, and swells that have claimed ships and shaken foundations. Rocklands Beach is rugged, windswept, and quietly magnetic. It’s clearly not a beach for swimming, but for watching. The Atlantic here is moody: some days it lies still, a mirror to the sky; …other days, it roars against the rocks, sending spray over the promenade and rattling the railings. Ahead is Mandela’s Glasses—a pair of oversized stainless steel spectacles titled “Perceiving Freedom” This sculpture by Michael Elion, faces out toward Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. Though the artwork has sparked debate, it remains a focal point of the promenade. We are now at Three Anchor Bay, where the coastline pauses, and history lingers. The bay marks a subtle transition: from Sea Point’s high-rise energy to Green Point’s leafy calm. The promenade continues its steady pulse, with joggers, dog walkers, and cyclists weaving past. As the sun dips lower, the promenade becomes a living canvas. Golden light spills across the walkway, catching the curve of benches… …the shimmer of sea spray, and the quiet joy of families at the playground. Children’s laughter mingles with the hush of the Atlantic, and for a moment, everything feels suspended—held in warmth and light. The light softens, the sea glimmers with dancing gold, and the air carries a hush—as if the city itself is pausing to listen. It’s a time to breathe… We have reached the Lighthouse,
and this marks the end of our walk. Thanks for joining Dotted Paths!✨ Remember to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE 😉…
