The Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has received a makeover for the final part of the universal exhibition which is set to end on October 13.
Visitors will in fact be able to admire the Gonfalone della Giustizia (Banner of Justice) by Perugino.
The painting by the Renaissance Umbrian master became a permanent feature of the pavilion after starring during the week dedicated to Umbria, which kicked off with its presentation on August 31.
“Umbria left a mark at Expo 2025 Osaka”, said the Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, Mario Vattani.
“We are grateful to this Region” for this “splendid oeuvre by Perugino”, he noted.
“The Japanese and in general visitors from all over Asia, from all over the world, know, love and are aware of the role this territory plays, including in the fantasy we have when dreaming about Italy”.
The Banner of Justice “recalls a figure, that of Saint Francis, who will involve us in an upcoming appointment, again here at Expo 2025 Osaka, on October 4”, added Vattani.
“I sincerely thank Commissioner Vattani for the idea of giving a central role to this extraordinary oeuvre of Umbrian art, with its best master, Perugino, who represents the beauty of Umbria, of landscapes, of our saints, of our spirituality”, said Umbria Governor Stefania Proietti, stressing how this “is among the best Pavilions of any Expo”.
The choice also contributes to “launch the message of the eighth centenary of Saint Francis on October 4”, concluded Proietti.
