The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the rendering for the Osaka Japan Temple.
This temple will be built on a 10-acre site located at 3-50-1 Sugi, Hirakata City, Osaka, 573-0117 Japan. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 34,320 square feet. An ancillary building will also be constructed.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced this temple during the October 2023 general conference.
“The ordinances and covenants of the temple are of eternal significance. We continue to build more temples to make these sacred possibilities become a reality in each of your lives,” he said then.
The Osaka Japan Temple will be the fifth in Japan. Other temples in Japan are the Fukuoka Japan Temple, Okinawa Japan Temple, Sapporo Japan Temple and Tokyo Japan Temple.
Japan is home to nearly 130,000 Latter-day Saints in 230 congregations. The Church first sent missionaries to Japan in 1901.
Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from meetinghouses or chapels where members and friends of the Church meet for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a “house of the Lord” where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed so that families can be united for eternity. In the temple, Church members can seek peace and guidance, learn more about the purpose of life, and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve their fellow men.
