Perfect Summer Road Trip from Tokyo: Japan’s Clearest Beach & Hidden Food Spots 🌊☀️

Hi friends
How’s your summer going? 🙂 Today’s a drive to the Izu Peninsula! On the way, Mt. Fuji. No snow in summer.
Still so beautiful. Our destination, Shimoda City A beautiful coastal town you can also reach by train from Tokyo. Halfway through, coffee break… Turns out! It’s a mentaiko (spicy cod roe) shop.
Only in Japan, right?! 🙂 Parked the car, the sea breeze is calling…
Let’s head to the beach! I truly believe Shimoda has the most beautiful ocean
you can reach on a short trip from Tokyo. First things first… cheers! A seaside town I visit every year.
It’s my happy place 🙂 Beach lunch? Onigiri rice balls and fried chicken from 7-Eleven. And look at this—pure genius packaging!
The seaweed stays crispy. Everyone’s enjoying the last summer days.
Such a peaceful vibe And this fried chicken? So juicy. So tender. Never underestimate Japanese convenience store food! After the beach, town walk. This little stream with pampas grass swaying in the breeze. The perfect Japanese summer photo spot. Found a friendly local 🙂 I stopped by a local liquor store—
not for drinks, but to buy a special salt. But…sold out!
I got a souvenir stamp instead. Cute ceramics, handmade things everywhere. Everything feels so warm and local. Now for the main event.
Unagi dinner!! For me, the taste of summer is unagi 🙂
I even made a reservation. I’m here! A quiet tatami room.
Smell of grilled eel with sweet soy sauce. Wow…so hungry. Time to eat. Itadakimasu!! Crispy outside…
Soft, fluffy inside… For me, this taste is summer. Do you have a food like that?
I’d love to know! Also, the dishes.
Japanese ceramics are so pretty. That was an incredible meal. Okay, one last stop at the local supermarket to bring a taste of Shimoda home with me. So many beautiful fruits! I love local supermarkets.
Always find something new. The next morning, enjoying the fruits of my trip. These are Japanese plums.
Not sour umeboshi, sweet and refreshing. Trip complete!
Thanks for coming with me 🙂 Likes and comments make my day. See you next time!
